Ok, Been looking to get a new bow. Looking primarily for an 80lb draw. (got some big plans) I have it narrowed down between two bows by BowTech. The Insanity and the Invasion. I have shot a lot of other brands and models and honestly these are the two I like the most.
I am looking for any inputs on this matter.

Elite and strothers make up to 90-100 I think.
Haven't shot the insanity yet but have shot 340,350 and invasion...close you eyes and pick one

BOBO, I will have to see what I can find out about Elite and Strothers. My curiosity is up now. I cant afford an Elephant hunt so I am not sure I need a 90-100. Although it would be an amazing hunt.

I had a elite judge for a while, and it was one of my favorite bows that I have ever shot. If you can find one the gt500 was a fantastic bow and I believe you can get 90lb limbs for it.

I liked the Elite Pure. If you going 80lbs and up ELite is the way to go. Unfortunately finding ELite dealers is the issue. I know Rednek Booda Outdoors in Kerens is an Elite dealer and services and Elite Factory shooter.

I've shot about 10 bows trying to pick out my next one. Still cant decide. Not brand loyal and like you my current 2 picks are both the invasion and insanity. I liked the strong backwall on the insanity after it pulled into the valley however the invasion had a slightly less harsh draw but more hand shock post shot. I'm leaning slightly more towards the insanity. If you're going to africa you might take a look at the insanity cpxl (longer axles and larger brace heights are typically more accurate at longer distances due to forgiveness) I'd like to put my hands on both Elite's and strother bows as well. If you find a dealer that has either or both in stock let me know.

McCoy, Both the Invasion and the Insanity CPXL have a 7" brace height. they are the ones that I am considering. I did notice some shock when I shot the Invasion but that was with IBO arrows. I don't know how they will feel with 600-950gr arrows. The 6" brace height on the Insanity CPX is just for speed freaks. I am not that worried about 10 extra FPS. I just need to find a dealer that has both in stock. so I can try them both back to back. I know for a fact that there are no dealers close enough to my current location. So I guess it will have to be when I get back home. And same goes to you. If you find an Elite and Strother dealer in west Texas let me know.

Unless you are hunting an Elephant you should not need anything over 70# Fred Bear shot mostly 60-65# and used a 70# for his Polor bear. just saying.

Several years ago when I was on staff at Bowtech I had them send me some 50# limbs for my competition bow, but for some reason they sent me some 80# limbs... I can't for the life of me ever figured why someone would want to shoot something that big, after all there isn't anything in North America that a 50# bow won't kill.... But good luck and of course I'd recommend Bowtech.

I would not want to hunt a brown bear, grizzley bear, or moose with 50# limbs, for those they only ones I would look at are 70#+.

A vast majority of PHs in Africa wont let you hunt Cape Buffalo, Giraffe, Hippo etc... with anything lighter than an 80lb draw. In reality 80lbs is not that bad for me. I can sit on the ground legs straight out in front and draw countless times with out hassle. Yes you are correct Grizzly bears and moose etc can be taken with a 50lb bow and most people due shot a draw weight that is to high for them. The reality is perfect practice makes perfect. I want to hunt all I can with the setup that I will be using on the Africa hunt. So if that means I shoot white tail and hogs with an 80lb bow and 950gr arrows then so be it. If this setup will work on large dangerous game, then I am sure it will work on a 300lb hog. Plus I have never heard of a bow hunter losing an animal cause he got to much penetration.

It will give you a work out!

New cam systems are better then ever. My elite gto is at 72#, and pretty easy draw cycle...its a 4 year old bow... Change in cams and limbs technology make 80# much more do able

Yeah but 80lbs is 80lbs. I have big lats, but I look like I am lop sided. My right one is significantly bigger. but shooting an 80lb bow a couple hundred times a week will do that to you.

I bought a Bow Tech Invasion last August and i can't say enough good about it. Once you draw which is very smooth you can hold it forever it seems like Also very accurate for me Just my 2 cents worth
