Yea around the Royse City area. I have a lot of luck with the coyotes and have killed several cats in the area but not near as many as coyotes. The cats are definetely my favorite to hunt. I have not killed one in about a year now(ever since I decided I was gonna have a full body mount done on one).

Same here except I haven't started to hunt them. Just recently finished my AR about two months ago. Wish I would have had it done sooner when I was seeing at least one a week just driving down the road.

I have a Foxpro and several lights for night hunting if you ever want to get together and try to call some in? Work schedule is a little crazy right now but should slow down in a month or so. Hoping I will get to do some more hunting when all of that slows down.

A full body mount of a mtn lion is gonna cost you out the wazoo.
Good luck hunting, and be safe.

Where you do find tracks, try to find where they're headead, more than likely it will be a route with the most cover. Also be on the look out for "scrapes", they look like you put mittens on your hands and pilled up dirt, leaves, gravel, etc. with your hands side by side and only from one side of the pile. What ever side the scrape marks are on, that's the direction he was headed.
Sometimes there will be scat in these, most of the time just a little squirt of urine.
What these scrapes are is the male marking his territory. They lead females to them and chalange other males to stay away. If you find scrapes you're deffinetly in his backyard. Very rarly will they attack you because they've seen you coming for a good ways off and have left the area. If you wound it or corner it though, make sure you have plenty of lead flying towards it.
Calling them or ambushing them on a travel route work fairly good, but it's one of those right time right place things. They do travel far, but if he has picked a home and feels pretty safe there sighting will become more frequent. Best time of the day is just after dark till just after sunup. Durring daylight hours they're usually sleeping.
Good luck and be safe.

Not trying to be disrespectful at all but buddy those are bobcat tracks unless you have a real small hand. Last weekend down near uvalde we saw a track every bit the size of your hand. It was bigger than a baseball and deep. The bobcat Rocky killed had paws that big. It was big for a bobcat but he wasn't no mt lion.

Hang a dead rabbit in a tree fairly high off the ground and wait till you see tracks then hunt it.

No offense taken. Actually the fact that my hand is fairly large and the tracks shown are still larger than my hand go even further to prove it to be Mt. lion tracks. I only spent eight days tracking the one that made the tracks in the picture and finally killed him this last Monday. All the hair around the pads do not make prints, big diffrence from what you see on the ground and what you see on the cat. Compare this to the tracks above (it's what made them):

If you like I can send you more pictures of him. I have seen some big bobcats, but none would ever come close to the size of these.

The tracks of the bobcat I killed came close to the size of the first pic. But the MT. Lion down near uvalde where huge, I'd love to see that cat. It was fresh tracks when we saw them. In fact we were fishing and it was dark so we went back and the next day the tracks where exactly where we walked. It must of been like a African lion sized MT. Lion. Because they where HUGE

We've taken a lot of mt lion down here, but this one was by far one of the biggest. You can see more HERE.

38 lb bobcat and a 150 lb mt lion.

I wouldnt waste time right now hanging small time baits or setting traps randomly. You are only going to get one chance at this thing. You blow it qnd it will change its beat. Also you start calling and shooting small cats and yotes it will know. This thing is a apex predator hunt it like you would a apex predator. Scout and scout set cameras and figure out the pattern that it passes thru the property you have access to. If there are dirt roads drive around and look for crossings into you prop spend lots of time watching and listening. It aint going no where they live longish lives. Be patient, be aware and let the air out of it one time then post tons of pics on here good luck

We have a big cat roaming around our place too. Robert Campbell from American Hoggers told us to go to the local salebarn, buy a mom/kid goat pair, put them in seperate pens about 25-50 feet apart and the bawling is supposed to attract it.

If you can use a silencer, so if there's more than one ou can get both. And you can kill whatever else you see. It's a win all the way around.

Just crossed over from the fishing forum, saw this and to join in.

My buddy has around 300 acres here in Grayson County, and has a mtn lion that passes through occasionally. During the drought it dropped a few calves. We tried, and tried, and despite several sightings (accounting for even supposed and false) we could not get on this cat. We did figure it to have about a 6-8 week rotation pending on season. We also are certain it follows a creek that has heavy brush along it that cuts through the property. What we haven't found yet is a place for it to bed down when passing through, which would have increased the odds of getting the drop on it.

Best of luck on getting that cat.

-Eric

That's about what I've read as well. Kind of have to have a little bit of luck as to when it's around.

I still haven't had a chance to go out. I've been busy but hopefully next week I can a few times. I'll be purchasing the Kill Light XLR250 tonight which has been highly recommended as well.

Pretty much, I'd say luck will play a huge part of ever getting it. In my case, 300 acres is such a small fraction of a percent of this cat's roaming area that I'd have to have a live web cam feed of the trails with an alert to notify me when its passing through just to even hope to be in the same area as it.
