Looking at buying some land some day and I was wondering what I would do or say if that were the case. What's the etiquette in terms of deer stand placement? I should be able to put up a stand close to the boundary line as long as my field of view is only on my property right?

It's not an issue unless they are shooting over the fence. There are situations where a blind can be pointing in a direction which you may find unfavorable (or unsafe) but the persons intent isn't to cross the fence.
Obviously if it's right up against the fence, this is an issue and I would talk to the landowner about it.
9 times out of 10 you'll find it isnt the landowner that's responsible, but their kids or lessees.

its wise to keep blinds/stands as far away from boundaries as possible. just like it would irritate you to see that your neighbor is hunting right next to you, the same will apply with them seeing your stand right next to them.

SouthTexas fencelines are notorious for this but unless you have direct evidence or proof that shooting over property lines is occurring, I'd not lose much sleep over it. It's not illegal..

I would worry more about where the feeder is placed.

Talk with the neighbor and find out who hunts the stand, him or lesses. Where I used to live we both had stands near the fence but the side facing the fence did not have windows and the feeders were about 150 yards away from the fence. That way we were shooting into our own land and away from the fence.

Never met the owner or leasees of some HF property on my northeast side but they keep putting up No Trespassing/Hunting signs clearly for me(or leasees, if I had any) to see. They've finally gotten smart and use metal signs because the plastic ones would just break up after a couple of months. My feeder and blind is about a 100yds. from the boundary...and it's a high fence. My guess is there have been problems previously, but am curious is all. Never seen anyone out there to talk to 'em.

I hunted with a guy a few years ago that had his close to the fence and facing the fence. He was left handed and was shooting down an opening on our side. He was shooting deer leaving our area. So it is not always as bad as it looks.

if you think Texas is bad, Oklahoma lease with J.J. is really bad. we have a neighbor that has stand 20 yards off fence pointing over our land. He has even admitted shooting hogs on our side, but hasn't admitted shooting deer yet. we have a tree stand 150 yards other side of the fence and I got call from neighbor several times asking us to move it farther away for "safety". I simply said things would be better if we're both 150 yards off the fence.

I have had a stand on a powerline in Mississippi, new owner of the place next to mine no only put a stand on the powerline but a food plot between my stand and his. The previous owner and I had an agreement about how we hunted this place, on my property there is an L shaped opening with the powerline being part of the L, he had stand close to my stand and we often visited before or after hunts, each had food plots going the other way from our stands in oposite directions.
I wonder about stands that are facing HWYs in Texas, there are a lot of those.

You can place a stand where you want. The only reason we HF our place was an influx of ppl buying 25 acres lots next to us and putting feeders galore on it as shooting deer we feed. ( they obviously had no resident deer.

Sounds like you got a conspiracy on your hands...better build another fence inside the one you already have... You know... Just incase they all cut it to let your herd out.

We had a guy put a feeder on our fence line and his stand about 80 yards away. his feeder was literally five yards from our fence. He used our fence as a side of the feeder pen. We thought "what an idiot". put an old deer stand we were not using directly in line with his shooting path (our side) and painted a target on it. He got the message and moved it sometime that week. What a dummy.

I would rather the neighbor have the blind on the fenceline and have the feeder back in his own property so that he is shooting away from me and back into his own property. Most people will look at a deer on property bordering theirs, but very few people are actually going to puposely shoot a deer across the fence.

Is it okay if my stand is 75 yards from the neighbors line? I only use a bow on my place.

We have this exact situation and it is very frustrating. A neighbor has a stand literally 4-6 inches from our fence, looking directly into a ~20 acre oat field we use for cattle grazing. His house is 150 ft behind his stand, and the fenceline on his side is very dense mesquite brush. It is pretty clear to me where he is hunting, but I've never heard of any legal avenues to deal with it without real evidence of poaching.
I now have a plot camera that will take photos every few minutes at dawn and dusk, and will be using it to keep an eye on him this year.

I've hunted on leases where we all used the same senderos on both sides of the fence..(low fences)and the neighbor always took exception to our blind..Ours were open on top back then, but we didn't shoot or hunt over the fence..and in those days none of us fed anything but quail birds..and them we fed from a truck..
One lady down by Uvalde burned our blinds, even though we were over 100 yds from her fences...She didn't do well in court..DD

Get some used tin and put up a shield on your side of the fence. If something happens to it, then you know you are going to have a problem. Consult your Game Warden then.

I have a deer stand right beside the fence line. The feeder however is 80 yds down the fence. There is like one opening in the brush on the other side. Then there is a few places in the fence where it has been broken or cut years ago. I haven't done it for sure because I think it's wrong for someone to pay for a fence and have someone else cut it. But the deer go through all the Tim and I wait till they are on my side. The owner of that land does illegal stuff but I don't get caught in any of that. 90% of the time that whe the animals come from. And when they don't cross it's really tempting to shoot across that fence line. Especially those axis. But the way to tell if they are shooting across the fence line is put up a game camera and catch them crossing the fence and bringin the deer back, paint the fence post purple on the top 4 inches just to add too your side.

I just got on a new lease and there is a little finger from the neighbors land that juts into our sanctuary. He has a blind and feeder there and his land is only about 30 yards wide trough the finger. Its so obvious he is only hunting our deer. Any suggestions?

Most people will look at a deer on property bordering theirs, but very few people are actually going to puposely shoot a deer across the fence. One of our neighbors is set up this way. He was set up with the feeder on the fence line, but our ranch foreman talked to the hunters and said he didn't mind the location, but asked that they move the feeder so they aren't shooting towards our place. A couple of our hunters helped them move the stand and feeder. In Kansas, I have a boundary that is not fenced and is not marked. The guy that hunts next to me owns the land and I lease. He has a stand that, according to GPS is exactly on the boundary line. He bow hunts and the way that he faces, he has to shoot toward (or on) our property. We had a little disagreement about it, but I decided to just avoid that area and let him hunt it. Not worth the hassle.
