You should go chase them around on foot and see if they chase you like geese ! That would be a fun time !

They have a taste some like a cross between Owl, Bald Eagle, and Babby seal.

You should go chase them around on foot and see if they chase you like geese ! That would be a fun time ! Federal law prohibits harassing them too. Went looking this morning and could not find them. Don't know if they left for the day or forever. They were steady feeding on crawfish and the crawfish are still there. I knew this was going to be a brief event. Glad that I got the pics that I did. As someone said most people never get to see them.

I'm impressed: this thread is on page 2, and no one has mentioned what type of birds these are. I recall the LA poaching news, but don't recall what type of birds they were. So, what are those?

They are the first whooping cranes to reside in Louisiana since 1950. Yep, and more trivia. What is sad is including those two birds that makes 11 birds over the last two years that have been shot out of the eastern population of whooping cranes. That's a hard hit considering theres only about 400 wild whoopers left.

thanks for the pics, we had a duck/goose lease out of Garwood for five years, we took a few sandhills, were always on the lookout for some of the whitehills, didnt wanna make that mistake.
