Matte Black or Polished Finish On Scope? Is one type better than another? I would be putting it on a rifle with wood stock and typical gun blue finish.

I would think matte would allow no light to reflect so to the super aggressive hunter that means one less chance and animal gets to you.

The polished will hold up a bit nicer.

It just depends on which one you like the best. The scope tubes are nearly all made of aluminum anyways so they aren't going to rust no matter which finish is on them.
I like the matte finish myself but that's just because I don't like a lot of shine on a gun and usually hunt with a bead blasted stainless rifle or one that has been coated to a matte finish. I hunt in some tough conditions and don't want to spend all of my time cleaning a gun or having to worry about it rusting in a matter of a few minutes if I get it wet.
Just pick the finish that you like best and go with it.
You only need to make yourself happy.

Matte black.
Just think it looks better.
Like's been said, probably no
other reason to pick one or the
other. Is this for your 30-06?

I like the matte, The stock is synthetic and the barreled action is a matte finish. Tikka Whitetail.

It just depends on the stock for me. If its a nice shiny wood stock ill put a glossy one on it. If it a synthetic ill put a matte finish on it.

I prefer matte over gloss on all my guns!

I own a few gloss scopes, but alot of them will start to turn a light purple color when they start to get some age on them. I have both Leupolds and Nikons that have done this! Thats the major hang up I have with gloss scopes!
