One of our lease members was ask to leave by the landowner and it was on bad terms. He was given 60 days to remove his feeders. I believe he had someone else (his daughter) go out to the ranch to get his feeders off. I am now the lease manager. Yesterday while at the ranch I found one of his feeders still in place. What are the options?

probabbly an honest mistake he left one. Inform him there is still 1 at the lease and give him 30 days to come get it. He might just say keep it.

Or take it down and take it to camp for him to pick up or offer to buy it from him if it is still in good shape.

No harm in giving the leasee a call but it seems like the landowner would have first dibs.

I wouldn't let him back on the place, just take it down and give him the option of getting it from you.

Not knowing all the facts but as a landowner and having given him 60 days to get his stuff and be gone, I would not want him back on the property. On the other hand, if the lease manager wants to load up the feeder and arrange delivery elsewhere, I woule have no problem. His 60 days is over and I am not sure how my liability insurance would handle a claim if something happened outside that time frame.

I agree with you aeb, as a landowner I would not want him back. As I read the opening post, it was landowner that passed the notice. A lease member allowing access might jeopardize the relationship of the remaining members with the landowner.

Possible he did not want it. For lack of room in a small truck, on my last trip out from a past lease, on good terms BTW. I have left a working feeder and a tripod stand. Being a drive over 6 hours, to make another trip after season would have cost me more in fuel and time than they were worth. So I left them as treasure for the new hunters.

You’re lucky that the rancher didn't remove everyone associated with your current lease. It seems like when one is asked to leave all are ask leave.
I would rather have the rancher and inform him that a feeder was left. Let the rancher make the decision on what should be done with the feeder. But being the leaser had 60 days to remove all his property it is most likely staying on the lease. If I where the rancher he would never step foot on my place.

Hardline is it's the land owners stand now. The right thing to do, IMO, is give the leasee a call and let him know he still has 1 stand on the lease and go from there. As others stated you could offer to buy it, take it down for him or he may just say fagetaboutit and it's yours anyway. This of course is not knowing what happened. And yes, be lucky only 1 member was asked to leave and everyone didn't get the boot.

You can give Joe blow another chance at it. I don’t think you would want him to go on the ranch again and I would appreciate that, especially with all the equipment we have out there. I could remove it and bring it up to the front gate for him to come and pick up at your convenience (our next visit is planned for August). Another option is that as I said legally I think it is yours, so I could either purchase it from you or I could offer to purchase it from him if that's what you wanted to do.

I don’t believe we are under any time restraint

Been there before.

Inform the landowner let him make the decision about the feeder, if the 60 days are past for him to remove the feeder then it is the property of the landowner the way I see it, abandon on his property. You as lease manager need to work closely with the land owner to keep things in order.

We have about the same thing going. We took over more land on our lease. The people that was ask to leave about six weeks ago have not gotten all their stuff off. We have not touched it and won't until after labor day. If it's still there then we will claim it. I feel like if they want it giving them that much time to pick it up is enough.

Offer to buy it or put it outside the gate for him to pick up.

Call the guy that is no longer a member and tell him about the feeder. That is what I would do. It would be best to handle it now than during season and he comes around looking for it and possibly creat a problem for the camp and landowner. Get it handled ASAP!

Ask if this happened to you, what would you like to have happen? I'd at least like a phone call about it. Ditto on the others advice about not letting him on the land again but give him a pick up option.

I have notified the Landowners and have left it up to them to make the dissision. I have suggested they contact him, but not to let him back on the land. I suggested that I could bring it to the front gate the next time I am there. Or I could buy it from them or him. Don't matter to me.... all I know is I want to hunt that spot so the next time I'm up there I will set that spot up to hunt archery.

Ask the landowner what his preference is. If he absolutely doesnt want him back there then its your call as to whether you take it to him or offer to buy it. He was given sixty days which is more than fair so if you are not comfortable with calling him dont worry about it. Welcome to being the lease management and good luck

Dont tell me you shot the 4 point for the meat when there are does all around.
