In the 60's when we hunted Dan Kinsel's ranch in Encinal, I'd have some of the police ofcrs. and judges that hunted w/us come to the open top blinds with so much aftershave on I could smell
them in the breeze from over 1/2 mile..All of them, plus my Uncles smoked..I never have...The deer paid more attention to noise and movement...In the feeder pen game oprs. now we've played the boombox and drank beer and thrown it out the door into
the bed of the truck while watching them eat in the pens a 100yds
away..and they don't care..Not much hunting when they are feed all of their lives..Don

Deer are conditioned response creatures. Unless they can directly correlate smoking to the death of a buddy from a hunter, they are clueless. Pressure is the key. Lots of hunting pressure begins to condition them to the smells of hunters in the woods. I'm not a smoker but hunted with many who are. Their clothes wreaked like an ash tray but they still killed deer.

Everyone dies. Not everyone really lives.
