Join TTAI is a great start. Some (not all) Taxi's will give lessons. There are some schools that seem much better than others from the research I have done. Hit up taxidermy.net and read.

Central Texas School of Taxidermy in Snyder has 3 different courses. There is a two week class that covers, euros, antler mounts, shoulder mounts etc for $2300. Then a 6 week course that covers what the two week course involves along with lifesize, fish and birds for $6900. Jason is a great instructor and is always a phone call away if needed. This class will teach you the basics to get started in the trade, but there is so much more to learn on your own. It will give you enough info and confidence to do on your own. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
