Sounds like qualifying that is required at the state owned and run Ben Avery Range just outside Pheonix. Nect trip out there guess I will take along one of the long range rigs and shoot that with one of the nephews

Is hitting a 4x4 gong something to be proud of?

Think about it time of flight over a second for wind to affect the bullet, lots of drop and that woule equate to a 4.8 inch square at 100 yards

I was working on a 4.8" plate at 500 yards, would think if you could dope close the qualification is a joke.

Qualification is mostly to make sure you stay in the BERM, in most places. Sure do not want shots going won range past berm

I was working on a 4.8" plate at 500 yards, would think if you could dope close the qualification is a joke. Kindof thought that too. Specially when some of us have hit a 10" at 1000. But I can understand the range owner wanting to make sure he doesn't have shooters sending rounds over the berm.

We are just glad to be able to get out to qualify cause they usually do it on a week day and can't no one make it out there. And yes 4'x 4' is a big Target to hit. I usually shoot at the 500 yd at clay pigeons we set up and can bust at least 9 out of 10.

If you're 90% on clay pigeons at 500 then you should be within the center 2' of the 1000 yard target. That is of course if you run 175s or 178s and the wind doesn't screw ya.

I just talked to one of the guys at tac pro and we will be shooting a 20" Target at 300,500, and 1000 yds and you got to hit 3 out of 5 from each distance. Should be fun!!!!

Everybody that didn't go missed a good time. Everyone qualified and did more shooting afterwards. I had a blast out there and will be going back as often as I can. and the wind doesn't screw ya. TacPro needs more windflags.

TacPro needs more windflags. Thats why you've got to practice watching the effects of wind on your surrounding environment. I've flung lots of lead down range learning how to figure out the wind.

we shot the Nationals in San Angelo 3 weeks ago and most who shot in the top did 10" or so 10 shot groups at 1,000 yards with 10 mph winds.

4"x4" sounds like the broadside of a barn but im sure it is a different story when looking at it through a scope
