Well I finally got my VA money coming in and decided to replace my AR that I had to sell during hard times when I first got out of the service. Decided since I had to sell off 90% of my gun collection I would start building it back up starting with a pistol since I currently owned none.
Kicked around the idea of getting another XD since I liked the last two, but after fondling a USP at the local gun shop I decided to give it a shot.
Have not got to shoot it yet, but will give a range report this weekend.

I nearly every flavor and love them all. You can fire .45 super out of a factory USP too.
They are like Glocks, but they actually look good and have ergonomics better than that of 2x4 with a trigger on it.

Anyone have a recommendation of a good holster? Not looking to conceal carry it, just something to keep it in when I have it in the car to keep it from getting beat up too bad.

No idea, I only wear holsters if I intend to carry a gun. Maybe go to academy or some other big box store and buy a cheap padded case.

They are like Glocks, but they actually look good and have ergonomics better than that of 2x4 with a trigger on it. So they are basically nothing like Glocks. Haha, jst kidding. You may want to go out an shoot one first. They have a strang trigger shape. I know people who love them and know people who hate them. Those that hate them tend to not like the shape of the trigger, not the function or mechanics. Personally, I'm impartial. i think they shoot fine but slightly prefer Sigs.

I recently purchased a .45 USP Compact. First impression was a good one. The gun shoots great, feels great, and was as accurate as everything else I shot. It is a favorite in my collection. I have wanted one for years and found one in great condition on here, so I would recommend H&K to anyone.

Have not got to shoot it yet, but will give a range report this weekend. I currently have: USP .45 Tactical (OD Green) USP .45 Expert USP .45 Match Stainless (Lara Croft gun) USP 9mm Elite Yes - I like the H&K USP line.

While I have not got to shoot mine yet, I did break it down last night and was surprised at the quality of this pistol inside and out. They really did a great job on it and im sure I will be buying another.

They're good solid guns but the DA/SA is prehistoric gun technology.

I own a usp 40. I carry it as my duty pistol. I can't bring myself to trust any other firearm.

Carried a full size USP-1 for years when I was working. Holster I used came from Kirkpatrick Leather in Laredo. The gun would not jam even when the "experts" at firearms instructor school tried to get it to jam. Traded it for a Sig GSP (1911 clone). Big mistake.
Traded the Sig for a USP Compact in .45 acp. Works fine everytime. I use a Blackhawk belt holster for it and shoot it regularily at IDPA matches.
I believe in carrying condition 1. Feel much more comfortable carrying it in condition 1 than my G-26.

Took it to the range over the weekend and ran 200 rounds through it, man im in love with this gun.
No failures of any kind, and this thing is a tack driver. It shoots way better than my XD's ever dreamed of, and I am putting in tighter groups than I did with my Colt Combat Commander.
Im no expert shooter with a pistol by far, but I was putting 5 shot groups on top of each other at 10 yards. Had a 15 shot group that was about the size of the palm of my hand.
Hooked on HK now!

They are awesome weapons. Also, the H&K fit my hands much better than any of the Sigs except the previously mentioned 1911.

An HK is 2nd on my list to buy; right after I can get my hands on a couple of Stainless or Bi-tone P232's. (Because I loath the LCP for summer carry)
They [HK USP] look kind of plain, but they have it going on under the hood.
I've been fortunate in my purchases this year. A 4.5 XDm, and today, I picked up a PX-4 Comp to make the wife happy. Both are laying 40S&W lead rapidly, and squarely, in the 10 ring. I think a USP would be just as satisfying. They're one of those pistols you really can't go wrong with, if it fits you.

You might want to also check out the H&K P30 series of pistols.
The HK45 is also very nice. (even better ergonomics than the USP line)

I sold the USP and got a G19, I do miss the USP but the G19 is a way better carry gun.
