Two preachers in a small Texas town were best friends. One Methodist, one Baptist. Every Sunday afternoon the Baptist minister would ride his bicycle over to the Methodist preacher's house and visit and go over their sermons of that day.
One day, the Baptist preacher came walking up to his friends house. The methodist preacher asked him what had become of his bicycle. "I think someone from my congregation stole it from me" the other said. He said "I don't care who stole it, I just want it back, how can I convince whoever stole to bring it back?"
The Methodist preacher thought a few minutes and then said"here's what you do. Next Sunday preach on the Ten Commandments. When you get to 'thou shalt not steal, hammer hard on it. That should be enough to guilt whoever took your bike to bring it back." The Baptist agreed with that idea and left to start on his sermon.
Sure enough, next Sunday, here came the Baptist preacher riding on his bicycle. "Did you do like I said?"The asked the Methodist preacher. "Sure did!"The said the Baptist preacher. "I preached on the Ten Commandments, when I got to 'thou shalt not steal ', I bore down on it, preached 'bout 45 minutes on it. But when I got to 'thou shalt not commit adultery, I remembered where I left my bicycle."
