Not that I miss 'em terribly but have noticed that there have been none in my game cam pics over the last couple months. Hogs, bucks/does, turkey, dove, quail - yes, but ø coons. Ya think they're mating or just have plenty to eat with all the giant grasshoppers I got out there? Kinda strange....

Rain put water in ponds and creeks for them, so there is a lot of natural forage for them right now. There was not many young ones raised last year in the drought also. June till late June is also the time when they start to move the young ones around from this year.

...where are the 'coons? Raiding my back yard and tearing up the trash cans every night. My chicken hearted tom cat is no match by himself for a pack of 30-40 lb boar coons 'cause the coyotes quit doing their job!!! Need to administer some sub sonic "rimfire medicine" but the neighbors don't like their sleep disturbed. Cheers Ron

I saw at least 20 over the weekend in Victoria Friday and Saturday nights. I shot this one using the green allpredatorcalls.com Wicked Light 400. We were down there hunting hogs. Bob

June till late June is also the time when they start to move the young ones around from this year. stxranchman I seen the opposite during the drought. The low and no water made coon food really easy to get all spring and summer. Fish were basically just laying there to be eaten and anything living in or around water was concentrated. We had bigger coons and more coons than I had every seen. They are raising babies right now and eatin grasshoppers but when winter comes they'll be back at feeders.

Bob what kind of rifle you got there?
I checked feeders today and had two that had their timer boxes destroyed by the masked bandits.

JT-That is my Savage Model 14 American Classic in 7mm-08.
I use it for almost all my big game hunting here in Texas. It has also taken black bears in Canada and plains game in Namibia. I shoot both 120 gr. and 140 gr. Tipped TTSX's.
It is my "go to" rifle.

They appear to all be living around our steer pens.

I don't have many around mine anymore either....don't know if it is because all the groceries on the ground or the fact that I trapped and killed a bunch??? And, those Duke traps are very effective! I have a couple 3 legged coons on my place that can't climb the feeders any more!
