Well two weeks ago my wife's cousin emailed me about deer hunting and ever since then I've been aching to start getting shtuff ready!!! I have plans like crazy for this year!!! I'm a teacher so I will be off for the summer in 2 days!!!

Is it too early to start setting up feeders? I know many ppl feed year round but i cant afford that.

I usuall start in August but this year I'll be hunting in a new place and want to set it up already. I'm thinking I'll just set up one feeder and camera now just to break this fever.

Come on deer season!!!

The earlier you get it setup for stands, tripods feeders etc the better.

That's what I figured. Last year I hunted at this place a little and saw tons of deer. I only hunted there about 5 times. This year I plan on feeding corn and watching patterns on the cameras and maybe I can get something nice. I'm hoping all these oil wells around here haven't scared them off. I guess I'll go set a feeder up on Monday. The stands are all ready up. One needs work though. I also want to do it now before it gets 110 degrees!!!

Hey man try hog hunting. That's what I'm doing this summer. I got some hog snares and Im setting them up, then when winter rolls around with school I'm setting up traps feeders and all. That way the itch is always satisfied.

Brother, I am ate up with it to.I have a stand that I trying to get ready myself and a feeder to put together which I will have corn in and hitting the ground by July. It will only be for a second or two burst because of the price of corn, but get them a little taste now, and they will be regulars come season. Just my .02 worth...

been feeding corn and protein awhile back they clean up the corn pretty well and the protein doesnt last long out of the 300# everything month, i am ready just got some shooting lanes to clear up and get some other things in place should be good

Well it's set...on monday I will get fensing materials, my feeders and trailer and set this shtuff up!!! I need some pics of what's there. Can't wait! At the end of last deer season I got a new scope and still haven't shot anything with it. Im looking into new cameras too. Not sure what I want though. I'll probably go Monday early morning and shoot some wabbitts!!! My wife has never had BBQ rabbitt. Can't wait!!!

we feed 1 time a day 4 sec it puts corn on the ground but not that expensive during summer time.

What about doing 2 times per day at 2 seconds? I think it would put out a little less but then the birds wouldn't eat as much.

I know I’m ready for hunting season; I missed all of last year’s season recovering from a bad car wreck and I’ll probably have to gun hunt this season as I can’t draw back a bow yet, or may never be able to again. I’m so ready for this season to start!

I set it up today. I used 7 panels. 5 cattle panels and two hog panels. I set the hog panels off the ground about 8" and placed them where I can shoot my bow from my pop up blind spot.

I used the hog panels because I had them already and I want the deer to cross in those two spots.

My reason of putting up a fence is to keep the cows away from my feeder.

I will probably later buy another cattle panel later and fill in the gap under the hog panels to keep hogs out.

Damn that sucks BJ! Maybe you can try a crossbow.

I went back yesterday to patch up an old blind. Got it done and then checked the game cam. Had one turkey on it. It was a really nice pic. I left the card there so I can't post it. I'll be back there the second week of June and I'll take the card home to post pics! Hope the deer find it by then.

oh, they'll find it. But they may ignore it as long as there is plenty of green stuff to eat. By July, they'll be hitting it hard. You may want to throw a trophy rock out there too. They'll keep coming to it even when the corn is gone.
