I drive right up to my tower stand and step from the Jeep onto the ladder. My feet never touch the ground. I admit that my stand placement is unique (by design) and it is in a big clump of cedars that hides the Jeep very well (also by design). It is not unusual to be able to hit deer with a sling shot from my stand. I also have a corn spreader on the Jeep and usually spread about 50 pounds of corn before daylight every day. I always touch the remote every time I see a deer anywhere on the lease. My cousin laughs and calls it the “corn Jeep”. I never shoot from any vehicle nor allow anyone on the lease to do so (except for hogs) and I think this is very important. I have also found that I see more deer on the lease with smaller tires (old style GI tires seem to be the best), best guess is not as much noise on the rocky terrain.

I usually park about 150 yards or more from the stand and walk in. I only spooked one deer last year walking in. I would like to have an electric cart but that's out of the budget right now.
I took my daughter with me last year in the evening and on the way back to the truck we were making all kinds of noise talking and joking when deer crossed the road about 20 yards from us and never paid us any attention. Seems like you never know.

I walk with a red light shining in the direction on where I think the deer might be bedded. I've got one stand that is very close quarters and to get to it you have to walk across an open food plot. On more than one occasion I have used this trick to get to my stand, get settled in with binoculars and watch 4 or 5 deer rise from their beds within 50 yards of where I walked and come right in to the food plot. No ill effects.

I've also done the reverse. In the evening I can get out of my stand well after dark and shine the light while the deer are still in the field and walk across the field and the 300-400 yards to where my truck is parked. They will bob their heads up and down to try to figure out what I am, but I haven't had one blow out on me yet.

I always park about 100 yrds away and walk to the blind. Can't get my truck back there anyway, but I never drive the ATV unless I'm retrieving a deer or fillin the feeder.
Sometimes I hunt in Arkansas and it's totally different. We just park the ATV right under the stand. The deer could care less.

My brother and I have moved our stands to new locations for the coming year and are scheming the best way to get in/out without spooking game. I have always been of the "walk-in quietly" opinion but others swear that the least disruptive way is to have someone drop you off - the deer are generally used to hearing the trucks running around.
Do you walk in or get dropped off?
I drive around in my blind.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I walk 4or5 hundred yards but it adds excitement when I hear unknowns in the brush when it's dark. Also have filled a few tags on the way out, more than once.

I use a roadfeeder and feed my way in and park as close to the blind as I can in a spot cut out in the brush to hide the vehicle.

The deer on our place don't mind trucks driving in and out. We have a gas well, so they're used to it. But if you stop the truck anywhere other than the well pad, they will bolt immediately. if they happen upon a vehicle parked anywhere on the property, the older doe will blow like crazy.
I walk everywhere I go on our place. The only time we drive into the field during the season is to fetch game or fill feeders, or other work that needs to be done.

I've had a similar issue wanting to know, but didn't have the funds to experiment. I recently was able to get a electric golf cart motor out of a junk yard. So hopefully I can build something to build one and see.

I walk to the stand... It's a pretty long walk but I like to keep things quiet in the mornings... evenings I wouldn't care if the truck was my stand.

I don't have to drive or walk. I keep a canoe at the water ready to go during season. If I am really hunting serious I park at the gate by the creek and paddle to my stand. That is my stand top right.

If there is regular vehicle traffic on the property, it's fine to drive in.
If there is little or no vehicle traffic on the property, walk.
I walk to my stands whenever I can. I love the quiet walk in before light...without a light.

I think alot of it has to do with knowing the traffic in your area and know what the animals are accustomed to. If the animals are used to vehicles in the area, I'd say, "Why not drive right up to your stand?" I suppose it also depends on your means. When rifle hunting, it's not a much of a concern when deer get nervous and do not come as close as you'd like. If that happens in the bow stand, you're out of luck.

Interesting responses. I think we will park several hundred yards away and walk in the rest. The new locations are in an area with hardly any truck traffic.
Other areas we have hunted off of roads or senderos I found no problems driving in as the deer were used to seeing trucks there. The new spots are different.
Heck, there has been many a hunt where we just pulled the truck over and hunted out of the truck.
Personally, I like walking through the woods in the dark. Builds the excitement.
