I'm a smoker and have killed many, many deer while smoking in my blind. We're not talking about 200yrd shots either. Maybe 70-80yrds. I've shared this with my buddies, and they think I'm lying. But I swear, it seems like when all hope is lost of seeing a deer, I'll light one up, and the does just sort of come out. Never shot a big buck while smoking, but definately does and spike.
Has anyone else experienced this? Are the deer just curious or what?

One of my stands is only about 50 yards from the feeder. It's mainly for hogs.
I sat in the blind and blew smoke directly at a bunch of deer and the wind was perfect to carry it right towards them. They definitely smelled it and definitely didn't care.

If a deer is going to smell the smoke it is going to smell you. With all the fires last yeat it might have been the best cover scent
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

As many times as I have heard that it doesn't matter if you smoke or not, this year I am going to smoke a cigar while deer hunting.

Before I quit the cigs I used to light one up before a stalk and it worked great in judging wind and wind changes.... Never seemed to affect the animals I think burning and burnt smells are pretty common in nature.

Smoked in the deer blinds, bow blinds, and walking back and forth. Usually saw more deer than anyone else. It has come to a point that when my buddies and I are hunting together they tell me to light the magic cig to get things moving around.
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting. Aristotle

I think there are alot of smell permeating the woods, whose to say what the deer will find offensive. It's also been said that what you eat the night before can spook the deer when you sweat the next day. Who comes up with this?
Nate C, try the Liga Brivada brand. I had one for my birthday last March and it was the best $20 bill I've ever dropped on a stogie.

I went and filled my feeder last fri. something has been settin off the camera but not gettin in the picure so I parked my truck 40-50 yards away and waited for the flash was gonna hit it with the green kill light to ID what ever it was.I had a bag of protien pellets in the back of the truck tailgate down I was sittin in the cab smokin window down, rear slider open some and the radio on pretty low and a doe jumped in the back of the truck and started eatin. scared the cr@* outa me. I always smoke at the place and this may sound strange but I keep a can of Rem oil in the truck and spray some on the ladder bolts from time to time so when I show up with a gun it's a smell thats been around . A couple years a go I had a possum showin up on the camera and it was actin tuff at the deer spookin em. one night I sat and waited the possum showed up. the stupid thing stayed under a little button buck hissin and eatin corn. I shot the possum rite out from under the little buck . the buck spoked of corse but was back on the camera the next night. guess it depends on what their used too.
