I gotta make the leap and give my gf an engagement ring this summer.. i'm looking for ideas on places to do such a task.

life as i know it will likely be over after said weekend.

i was thinking a outdoor resort somewhere like Canyon of the Eagles, The Cliffs, Rough Creek Resort or Lost Pines Hyatt Regency.

I figure horseback riding, fishing, a spa for her and water are all good.

Anyone have any other good places I should check out?

Or any other ideas?

Barton Creek usually runs some pretty good summer spa and golf resort packages...

My son brought his future wife to the ranch some years ago. He got up early the next morning, started up the feed truck and headed to the pasture. My thought to my now daughter-in-law was that she better get used to it if she was going to hang out with my hunting son. Didn't say anything, just held my tongue and went to breakfast. Mid-morning he returned with no comment about where he had been or what he had done. Fast forward to late that evening. He loaded the bride-to-be in the feed truck and took her a couple of miles back into the ranch where he had written "Will you marry me ?" with rocks that he had placed on the side of a slope.

My statement was directed at the guy who initiated this whole discussion.

I'm doing the same thing this summer. I was going to find someone to take us up in a hot air baloon, but a buddy of mine stole my thunder on that one and already has one booked to propose to his GF.

Another thing I was thinking about is this place in Dallas called Delta Charlies i think. Its like $225 for a fancy dinner, and then they take you up in an airplane and fly around downtown. I figure in the air would be a pretty cool place to do it.

I'm torn... I was going to rent a cabin in glen rose for a couple of nights, but rates are around $600 a night. Not worth it IMHO.

I'm thinking about that Marriot, Lost Pines Resort.. it's not too bad.

but im still thinking.. would be nice if it was a surprise. i'm not very creative anymore.

My wife has been pushing to go here for a few years, but with all our kids its a no go. Maybe we'll get there eventually.
