More moving/working parts means more to break later on. I wouldn't own one. I am old school though, there is no replacement for displacement, especially in a truck engine.

I only have one fired who has one, bought it last summer he went from a diesel to it and on last check loved the ecoboost. I haven't heard anything negative about them. I haven't researched the ford sites to see any online complaints though. Turbos in gas applications tend to wear less than those in diesel, so...

Had mine for almost a year now and no probs as of yet. Even had the dealership put a 6" lift and 35s on it and still avg 17.5 mpg.

I sell cars and trucks at auto auctions and dealers have not backed off at all buying them. But a 6.0L diesel is still the kiss of death.

Would rather have a 06 or 07 6.0L than any year 6.4L.

Would rather have a 06 or 07 6.0L than any year 6.4L. Both are POS. I've heard of less problems with the 6.4's though

Yeah but if you throw some money at the 6.0L you can fix the things that are wrong with it aftermarket. Their ain't no fixes for the 6.4L.

I've got a friend who ought one about 6 months ago. He claims it's the "best purchase he's ever made". He doesn't work his trucks too hard though, so can't vouch how it would hold up under load.

I have a '12 F-150, XLT 4x4 with the Ecoboost. I have zero complaints about the engine, decent gas mileage, pulls hard, but the "All terrain" ties that came with the Off road package are a joke!! My Son & I got stuck our first trip out to the lease in it! I'm saving up for some better off road tires.....

I owned 1 for less than a year put 17k miles on it and loved it. Wish I could have kept it but needed the extra towing power and went to the 6.7 diesel. But the Ecoboost is a great engine that gets underplayed by alot of "hardheaded" people. It's well worth the money spent and saved in gas. I used to get around 500 miles per tank on the highway.

I filed a lawsuit today against for over my ecoboost. Mine has been in the shop for a total of a month now and last week they called and told me to come pick it up although it was not fixed. I am having very random problems and ford's final answer was "we are releasing reflash for the PCM in 4-6 weeks and until them just try to get by." They will not give me a loaner vehicle because mine is still driveable. although while trying to go up an on ramp it will sometimes stall and start cutting out. I could wait 4-6 week for them to fix everything except the "limp" mode my truck goes into while trying to pull a trailer. A few miles after connecting my 6*10 single axle trailer the truck will go into limp mode. for those of you who do not know. Limp mode is a reduced power state that the engine goes into to get you home or to a shop. When in limp mode it will not shift into 6th gear and runs like crap. I was mad at the dealer at first until I contacted ford and heard it from them. Ford will not authorized the dealer to make any repairs until the pcm is reprogrammed in 4-6 weeks. I started by calling ford customer relations and starting a case then the regional ford rep called me back and started telling me how my truck is not properly equipped for towing because I have 3.15 gears. She didnt have much to say when i asked why it came with a 2" class 5 hitch and a trailer brake controller. I have talked to many supervisors until today when I gave up. All I wanted them to do was provide me with a vehicle I could safely drive until mine was fixed... There answer was "no". I contacted an attorney that specializes in Lemon law and Warranty issues and he said without a doubt we have a good case. I have (with their knowledge) recorded many phone calls from ford reps that I am working on uploading to youtube so other people can hear how Ford treats their customers. They were nice enough to offer me an extended warranty for my trouble. I think they did that just to make my blood boil... Why would an extended warranty help if they cant even honor their factory warranty... This really sucks because this is the first truck I have had in many years that I liked... i was getting 20.5 mpg (calculated by had not the trucks computer) until the first time the CEL came on and they reflased the PCM, now I get no better than 16.5... List of issues: Limp mode while towing truck shaking while sitting still with engine running mileage drop after CEL and reflash stalling out while accelerating hard stuttering or missing while driving in 5th or 6th gear reverse camera going black and white and fuzzy image drivers heated mirror turned a funny color where contact points are check engine light comes on with a random misfire code for cylinder number 4 there are others but this is just what comes to mind.

Wow! I love my Ford F150, but you definately got a lemon. Ford should have taken care of this. I hope that your attorney sticks them in the backside, and you are compensated for your loss. Good luck, and keep us posted.

I have had one for a little over a year now. Absolutely the best 1/2 ton I have ever had. Pulls well, great throttle response, and 19 mpg. I had only driven dodges for the last 24 years, but Ford makes such a great product I am converting.

I too have had a newer Dodge and a newer Chevy (company truck) and after driving both of them I dont know how anyone could buy aything other than a 2009 and up f-150. I am torn on what I am going to do when my situation is said and done..

If I wasn't a diesel nut, i would own an Ecoboost. Test drove a Lariat 2011 Ecoboost....it almost felt like a luxury car it was so nice. I almost couldn't stand it because it felt so luxurious. I want a truck, dang it.
But im a diesel nut and but a 2012 XLT FX4 6.7 Powerstroke. First ford i have ever owned. Was a long time cummins guy and tried an 08 duramax. 6.7 Ford wins out over all. 15k on the odometer and love every minute of it. Pulls well, good mileage, rides well, LOVE IT!
and yes, you couldn't pay me to drive a 6.0 or 6.4
I have heard a few negatives on the Ecoboost but most love them. We've got a company truck ecoboost and my brother in law has one.

This post has convinced me to keep my 1999, original owner and has been decent so far. I can't afford the new gizmos and gadgets and don't want to be afoot. I don't have much patience with dealers.

Had a friend that had an older ford 3/4 ton that was assembled in Mexico. It stayed in the shop more than on the road. Stuff kept falling off of it (like the radiator shroud (makes a lot of racket when it lets go). Ford extended his warranty as well. Before I buy one I alwqys check to see where it was assembled.

Crazy! You definitely got a lemon on your hands, its a shame you have to simply "get by" until they can attempt to fix it in 4-6 weeks. I can't believe they denied you a loaner too. I don't even know what I would do either because if you refused to pay for something they won't fix then they get you on your credit report. Tough deal for you, I hope things work out in the end.
