We are offering GOLD MEDAL Gemsbok hunts this summer. Our high fence hunts are in Breckenridge, Tx - where we have a total of almost 4,000 acres. We feed corn & protein year around (11 tons of protein per month!!) and manage the whitetail and exotic herds very intensely. This ranch was specifically built to cater to hunting enthusiasts - as such, all guests are treated as VIPs from the moment they arrive. The cost for this hunt is $4,500. This includes one guaranteed gold medal Gemsbok, 3 days & 2 nights in one of our two 5-star lodges, all meals prepared by our private cooks, 1-on-1 guide service, and gutting/cleaning/caping of your trophy. There are absolutely ZERO hidden fees, no trophy fees, no extra guide fees, etc. The price you see above is the complete cost for the hunt. We are currently running a summer special - so, if you book before June 30th, I will discount the price of the hunt. My contact information is below. Please let me know if you are interested in a hunt. Thanks!! Here are a few pictures that we took out at the ranch yesterday. And here are some pictures of one of our two lodges:

Great price.. what is the horn lenght on gold medal gems? Great question. We have gemsbok ranging from 36" - 40"...with one or two possibly just over 40". What makes our gemsbok so impressive is their mass. We have animals that carry incredible mass!!

Ohh come on, BMD. Why don't you & Kacee come out to see the ranch....and take one (or two) of our beautiful gemsbok home with you. I promise you won't be disappointed. Plus, the ranch isn't too far from home!!

I will think about it she definitely wants one, but rather do it in the winter than during the summer heat

They probably aren't going to last until the winter. You should do it soon, before it gets too hot!!

Without hijacking your post and this is an honest question, please explain why people will pay $4500 for a Gemsbuck, where for the same money you could do a 7 day safari with 5 different species of animals, incl. Gemsbuck for the same price, and hunt them in their natural area?

I would love to hunt Africa, and that is my plan for next summer, but some want to bring meat home to family, not worry about airfare, travel time, bringing animals back home, or just cant get away from work for 7 days plus.

Gemsbuck for the same price, and hunt them in their natural area? That's a good question. I think that a lot of people do not have the money to travel to Africa for a safari. I understand that you can do a safari package for around $4,500, but that's usually only about half the total cost for the trip. You also have to factor in the cost of airfare (which is usually a minimum of $2,000), accommodations for at least two nights (the front and back end of the trip), tip for your PH/trackers, dipping/taxidermy fees and license/permit fees. So, before you know it, a "cheap" $4,500 safari can end up costing you well over $10,000 when it's all said & done. Furthermore, based on conversations with some of my hunters, some people just do not feel like it is safe to travel to Africa. They are entitled to their beliefs in that respect. Also, many people cannot afford to take off of work for 10-14 days to go to Africa. That's why there is such a high demand for ranches that stock African game here in Texas. The guys who hunt with me know that they can come out for 3 days/2 nights, stay in 5 star accommodations, have all of their meals provided by private cooks, be guided 1-on-1, and harvest a world-class trophy animal....all for $4,500. The only extra costs for them is taxidermy and a tank of gas going to and from the ranch..that's it. And in the minds of a lot of my hunters, that's exactly what they are looking for. Basically, it boils down to this - those who want to and can afford to hunt Africa will do just that. But not everyone here can or wants to travel to Africa - that's why exotics are so popular to hunt here in Texas. I hope that answered your question. And I wish you luck booking your African safaris.

Thank you, Sir. Makes perfect sense. Season has been great so far with 2013 looking even better. All the best to you too. Take care, Best Regards Marius Goosen

Question Aaron... I hear that Gems are wonderful eating? I've also heard that you can't bring back the meat from Africa.. Now, I'm just repeating what I've heard I'm no expert on hunting regs. If I'm paying 4500 bucks, I damn sure want the venison for many cookouts! Just my 2cents.. Keep me in mind when/if you start booking Nilgai hunts!! Cheers

You are correct - gemsbok is EXCELLENT table fair (tastes very similar to scimitar oryx). And as far as I know, hunters are not allowed to bring their meat back from Africa. The majority of the time, the meat is used to feed the families of the trackers and surrounding townspeople. And if you're interested in a Nilgai hunt, shoot me a PM. I'll get you all setup!!
