I am looking for advise on the types of bow I should get my Girls. I was think of starting with Long and recurve then if they continued moving in to compound bows. The ages are 14, 9,8,and 6 (the baby will have to wait her turn). The 9 and 8 year old already hunt with me so I know this is not an option for them yet but want them to get started and be ready when they are of the age. Chris

Whisper creek Phantom. good youth bow with lots of adjustments. ditch the crappy rest that comes with it and put on a WB.

One option that I know of (for a cheaper route to start off with) is to purchase one or two Genesis bows. These are the same bows used in the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP). You could buy one to teach the girls with until they are ready to move into a hunting compound bow. Genesis bows are only for target archery but because they are universal draw length, all the girls could learn on the same bow. At the state tournament for NASP, K-12 grade use this same bow. This is just one option to consider if they aren't quite ready to purchase a hunting bow.

Yeah, the genesis is a great beginner bow. If I remember correct, you don't have to do anything to adjust for draw length. The Whisper creek is probably a little closer to an actual hunting bow, you can adjust the draw length without a bow press. But if you are going to buy just one bow for all the girls to shoot the Genesis would be easier. Shooting either bow will be easy to transition to a hunting bow when they get ready.

I second the Whisper Creek. I got one for my 6 year old daughter and she handles it great. It allows for adjustment as she grows.

Diamond makes the Edge. They are easily adjustable with only an allen wrench. The packages run about $300. I feel its one of the best out there.

Good suggestion. I did not realize that the Edge could be capable of multiple draw lengths without the use of a bow press.
3 good bows mntioned so far.........
Genesis Whisper Creek Phantom Diamond Edge
Keep em coming folks, I love to see kiddos involved in archery. I am getting my oldest nephew a bow for his birthday next month. It is made by Whisper Creek, but it is one upgrade higher than the Phantom. Wife learned how o shoot on it, but she has upgraded to a better bow.
