Ok, I know this has been beat to death. But I've been shooting a Diamond Black Ice for the last few seasons. I'm thinking of buying a new bow, considering the Mathews z7 exteme. I'm left handed so "testing" bows is basically impossible. I think?! Would love to hear about PSE vs Mathews from anyone who has shot both?! Also, I've been pulling 70# draw weight, getting a little older, and was wondering how much performance I'd loose if I reduced to 60#'s. My draw length is only 26"?! Thanks, and let the arguments begin!! LOL!

You would loose 10fps. I liked the PSE bows over mathews cause I think they have less hand shock since they are not a single cam. But along with that on let down they have the tendency to want to rip your arm off. But you can get more speed of them. I dont think Ill ever go back to shooting a mathews, unless its the monster, I just think that the solocam technology is at its limit performance wise.
I do not shoot a PSE bow currently, Im using a bowtech destroyer 350 for the time being.

I shoot a Mathews z7 eXtreme Tactical and LOVE it. One of the best bows I've shot, but I've shot Mathews since the early 90's. Now, I do own a PSE Vendetta XS that I traded my Hoyt Buffalo for back in February. I was out grilling burgers yesterday and shooting the PSE and it was okay.
To me, try as many as you can, some shops have a lefty, and then decide how much you want to spend. I've toyed with the idea of selling this PSE and getting a Mission Craze or Riot just because of all the adjustments you can make on it.
Don't pick the bow, let the bow pick you.....

I'm not a fan of PSE. didn't like the draw cycle and hand shock on them. But different strokes for different folks. If you like your diamond why don't you look at some of the diamond bows or bowtech? Those Diamond outlaws are selling like crazy , and I've seen and heard a lot of good feedback on them. I have a destroyer 350 and love mine.

Of the bows I have shot this year, and I shoot left handed, it would be a toss up between the Insanity and the Monster. I could basically flip a coin.

I'm a lefty as well There's not many of us. Therefore, finding a good left handed bow is hard to come by (unless you have the money to order one or get lucky enough to find one sitting in the corner of some random bow shop). As a result, I am able to "switch hit" (shoot from either hand). If I had the money to drop on a NEW compound, I would go with Bowtech. They're such an awesome company (even their sister company... Diamond... is awesome)! Yes, there are many Mathews dealers out there, but there are just as many Bowtech dealers. Mathews (to me) is to bows as Glock is to firearms. Good and reliable, but the hype is gone (relax fans of Mathews... that's just my opinion). I don't think they're bringing everything to the table. Now, I'm not saying they're not a good company, I just think Bowtech is heading in the right direction with the modern bow hunter in mind. Mathews... Well, they're sticking with what they know and old habits don't impress me much. I want to see a company that evolves with the hunter in mind. SO... Let the lead start flying, all ye who object.

If you want fancy wood grips and have to spend huge bucks for "Lost Camo" accessories then mathews it is.
If you want no resale(so buy used) more speed and the possibility the next shot will blow your bow to pieces(Pull Shoot Explode) buy PSE.
I shoot PSE and always will. I like to be able to shoot through a feeder and still make a shot on a deer.

I forgot to mention that is out of the major manufacturers, if I was going to buy a new bow right now it would be an Elite Answer. They are building quite a following, not to mention one heck of a bow. Just hard to find dealers. RBO in Kerens carries them.

Go shoot as many as you can get your hands on. Then let the bow pick you. Good luck

Gotta tell ya, the Bowtech is looking better than both Mathews and PSE! Can anyone compare the Assassin with the Insanity cpx or the Invasion cpx?? Let off, accuracy, fps?? Keep it going, I think a lot may be at least tempted into Bowtech! I really loved my Diamond blk ice. I will deffinately hold onto it! The size is awsome for tree stands, stalking, and grd blinds....I know, why buy another if I like it so??! lol.....it's just an itch, may go away by deer season!! lol

I shoot a PSE BruteX and love it. Shot a couple Mathews, but the release and feel of the PSE fit my style best!

If you can I suggest shooting a New Breed bow of you can. Got to Archery talk and look them up they are gaining ground in popularity quick.. I shot one 2 years ago and sold all my Bowtechs and havent looked back.. Price is great and their customer service is second to none. Bows are the most absolute dead in hand smoothest drawing, accurate compound bows I have ever owned. Tune like a dream.. I have the new 35 inch ATA Eclipse, a 37 nch ATA Cyborg for tournaments and a 34 inch Genetix..Just shoot one and you will see what I mean..

As said try as many as you can and let the bow pick you, but I wouldn't pass trying out the PSE Dream Season Evo!! Best hunting and all around bow I have ever put my hands on!!! But that is me, it could be totally different for you. Just let the bow pick you. If you have shot some and can't decide shoot some other ones and you will know when you have found the right one without having to even think about it very much!!

I have a PSE DreamSeason EVO. Like Chris said, best hunting bow made. I have shot it next to a new Heli-m and a Carbon Element. EVO hands down feels better and shoots better. Solid backwall, no creep and blazin fast. Now, i will give the Heli-m credit. It is a sweet shooter and i would consider buying it if i didnt love my EVO. Now the Hoyt CE was not my cup of tee. Its loud(typical of Hoyt) and felt akward in my hand.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

Shoot as many as you can, even if you have to go to a few different shops to do so, then pick the one that feels best to you. I've been shooting Hoyt's for years, I think Matthews is still making great bows but always thought the hand shock was too bad. The Hoyt maxxis 31 is awesome though.

I love my PSE Dream Season EVO. I have shot the Heli-m also and it is a sweet shooter also. Shoot them both and see what fits you better.
