Going on a Remington Sendero SF II 300 WM

Swaro Z3 4-12x50 or
Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50

Why????

I have same gun in a 300RUM and went throught the exact same discision making process. I went with a Nightforce 5.5-22X56 with MLR reticle and zero stop turrests and I am now a nightforce man. We shoot all kinds of distances up here. All the 300's will reach out and touch em. I have A-lines and PH's, love them and have always been a Swaro fan. The Nightforce is as good as any of them. The nightforce in the same power are about the same price with more features. But, you cant go wrong with either of the 3.

I put a Zeiss on a 300 win mag and sold the whole outfit. I bought a Swaro Z3 and put it on a Browning 243 and WOW, let me tell you, the Swaro is way brighter and better looks than the Zeiss. I vote Swaro, no doubt.

Swaro will beat the Zeiss Conquest in clarity IMO. NightForce is also a great scope.

Z3 is better choice. Conquest is a fine scope but I think you would have to step up to at least to Duralyt before getting on the same level as the Z3. I have not seen any Duralyt's myself but I have heard it is quite an improvement.

It all depends on the usage. For a hunting rig Z3 and Conquest are better choices IMO. Glass on NF is not the best but it is adequate for normal hunting usage. All those tactical features though make it a much heavier scope.

Nightforce makes some scopes with reticals that lend themselves well to hunting. Look st the compact 2.5-10 for that. They are a little heavier than some but the 30mm tube and larger glass makes for the added weight.

NF glass is well ahead of the Conquest lineup of scopes.

On the NF you are paying for the tactical features. For the same price you'll get much better glass without them. The question is individual of course, do you need the features?

For example Kahles Helia C 2.5-10x50 weights 3oz less and offers better glass for much less money. Minox ZA5 2-10x40 is 5oz less and only fraction of the money while still offering glass that is just as good.

NF glass is well ahead of the Conquest lineup of scopes.

Depends on the criteria. NF isn't well known for its low light performance despite its name.

That's when I tested some and was not impressed with the Ziess Conquest at all even an older Diavari was not what I expected it would be. We tested several different scopes the Bushnell Elite 4200 series was very good for their price range and not much difference in the Conquest lineup. The NF was the second best to a S&B which is to be expected after that is was a tie between the Diavari and a Leupold MK4 fallowed by the Elite 4200 then the Conquest and Leupold vxIII , Vari X II.

Which model NF? I will have a proper testing grounds soon to do an extensive test and I would like to include the best NF has to offer in it if at all possible. I have not been impressed with their previous offerings and they have never fared good in any of the low light tests I have seen published. I did hear a rumor thought that they have switched their glass manufacturer?

I've heard the same rumor as well and know for a fact the FFP scopes use different glass, the model I used was a NXS 5.5-22x56 I think from what other users that have had old and new the NF has moved forward a pretty good ways.

Swaro is the one I'm leaning towards! But I can get the Conquest for $599 as a demo and the Z3 is much more.

50mm for $599 or is it 44mm? If you can get the 50mm for that price, go for it. For a little more I could get you a 3-12x56 Conquest with 30mm tube.

Have to be careful what I say on a Texas board but I have to say Tampa is a nice city! Not that work lets me enjoy it as much I would like right now.

If you look at the map of the area where I currently live in, it's 10 miles to fishing/beach. Nearest park which is on the other side of pond has deer running around during the day. We have to be careful while driving so we don't run over cranes and storks. Lots of wildlife, lots of outdoor activities.

If you can't find a demo Z3 (~$750-800), get the Conquest or you might also consider a demo Leica.

I could get you a NIB Leica for almost the same price as a demo but you'd have to wait for a while.

I found a Z3 4-12 but it has the brx reticle. I've read reviews that its hard to see in low light conditions. Anybody have one that can verify this???

Not a brx reticle, but I have a Z3 with plex and the reticle pops in the daylight. No problem seeing it. I don't care for the bdc/brx reticle so I cannot comment on those.
