i have access to 60 acres in the pittsburg (texas..duh) area and i was wanting to draw in some hogs. i've had people tell me to dig a whole with a post hole digger, fill with corn, and pour apple juice over it and it will draw them in. i've been familiar with this area for 15 years and have NEVER seen one hog there. how long do u think it will take for that to take effect? any more ideas guys? y'all are the pros! thanks and God bless, D

Seems like you should have them in that area, but if you've never seen signs of them then you'll be wasting your time with a hole in the ground filled with corn. That really works best in an area that they frequent. I would look in the woods around a spring if you have one, see if you can't find some sign of them rubbing on trees, and set up shop there. I think you'd have better luck finding a semi wooded spot and setting up a corn feeder...worst case scenario you'll bring in deer!

yea, i've been trying to get into hunting these last two years and am still learning. (i've fished all my life). i only go to this land 3 or 4 times a year so i don't think a feeder would work very well (to maintain it). the land is half wooded/half pasture.

I am not an expert but here's my take (for what it is worth). There is nothing you can do to make hogs some how appear in an area where they do not already exist. Bait is used to get hogs who are already in the area to frequent a specific place. Your best bet is to look around for sign (tracks, wallows, and/or rubs) then place some kind of attractant (feeder, rooting hole, pig pipe, etc.) nearby. Hogs love water so your best bet is an area around bottom land such as a creek bottom or pond. If you see a sloppy/wet game trail along side a creek, odds are it was made by a sounder of hogs. If they are around, they will start hitting your bait in no time. They call 'em pigs for a reason! lol
If you set up a game cam with a date stamp, you can start to pattern them so you know when to be in position.
Good luck!

Striker i promise you dont want hogs. It would end up being cheaper to go buy a day hunt anytime you want rather than fixing what the hogs will tear up. My family owns 3500 acres in west of abilene that is full of hogs so i see first hand how much they tear up and the land they can destroy overnight.

I'm close enough and could keep your feeders filled:)
Do my best to keep poachers and tresspassers away.
Let me take a pig every now and then.
It ain't easy being me.
