My wifes best friends son leaves for Afghanistan soon. He has already done two tours in Iraq. I thought I'd make him a knife to take with him on this tour. It's not pretty but I made it to be used and abused so I went to no pains to sand out any left over grind marks or the heat marks for the heat treat and temper. I just rubbed the D2 blade down with some scotch brite and left it there. Scales are Digital Camo Micarta attached with three Stainless Corby style fasterners. The welt in the sheath is cut to catch both the thumb ramp and the cord cutter so you can hold it upside down and shake it and it's not going to fall out of the sheath. Gonna be one tough knife. The hole in the sheath will have a paracord tie down and the holes in the exposed end of the tang will have a paracord lanyard.

Wow nice knife man, thanks for your generosity to another soldier. Better check with customs to see if he can bring it home. wont be a problem getting it there... but they could treat it as a war trophy thinking he bought it there and wont let him bring it back. i just went through their customs 3 months ago coming back. make sure if his does take the risk you include waht that handle is made out of...

Great tactical custom. Nice job on the knife. Send a thanks from my family to the brave young man; we will pray for him. You are certainly putting a nice tool in his hands. Hopefully it cuts cord and tiedowns and opens MRE bags (I could never tear them straight accross and lost half of one side!) and he returns safe and sound!
I too would like to have one of these. If you make a batch, put me in line.
