Just acquired a NIB Bushnell Scopechief 4-15x50 scope. Anyone know any history on these like when was it made, quality of the optic (good, better, best)when the scope was part of their line-up at the time. Any and all information would be great.

I remember the scope model but not sure the time frame or quality level in their line of scopes. A quick search found a manual for it though,

It has some good glass in it, very clear. It has all of the paperwork with it. I am just kind of a nerd about this stuff and would like some info on it.

I have had one on my deer rifle for about 7 years. Clear optics, good low light performance, smooth zoom. I like it, but what do I know, I have it on a Savage. clap

Not certain but believe they were popular during the late 70's, but I may have them mixed up with 4X12. Had several and never had any problems with them. Course I was not trying to shoot groundsquirrels at 900 yards at late sundown. Limited most of my shots were at jackrabbits at less than 400 yards in W. Texas noonday sun. Don't ever remember much rain so can't say how they function in the swamps.

They are a walmart/academy blister packaged bushnell scope. Had one that I have $40 or so for. Wouldn't expect to be able to hunt all of legal light and wouldn't trust it to hold up to much of anything.

Bushnell Banners are bad and still twice as nice as the scope chief.
