DANG!!! So that means yall will be paying somewhere around $65 a box for 300 Ultra Mags!!! Thank God I have enough to last me about 15 years!! Seriously.....The rising cost of just about everything from bread to gas is getting out of hand REAL FAST!!!

When is the new one? Wasn't the last one just last September.
I'm going to Cabelas in mid-March.

Saw 17hmr all brands for $18.00 at Gander yesterday. Winchester Supremes were around $35.00
Last box of WWB 9mm I bought at Walmart was 15 plud tax. I heard they have gone up to 18.
I bought 2 550s of federal 22s for 11 each a couple weeks ago. I will never pass up a sale on 22 again. I believe even the Remington 550s were 9 bucks a few months ago.
It ain't easy being me.

Wal-Mart raised Winchester AA and Remington STS loads from $5.69 to $7.79!
I went and bought powder, primers and wads. Time to start reloading.

If you shoot more than 3 rounds to sight in and 2 rounds at deer, it's time to start reloading. .223 match rounds are $24.00 per 100 at my house. 7x57 .243 8x57 hunting rounds are slightly more. These are all fairly modest rounds to reload. If you own a 30-378 or 416 Rigby then YMMV. If you shoot pistols very often, you already reload so I won't even mention the cost saveings in that area. Covey16 Stock up on supplies because components aren't going to gert any cheaper.

Nope 1 because the figures assume my time is worth nothing, which at my age it probably is. 2 because I bought a whole lot of components at good prices over the years 3 scrounge a lot of once fired range brass. 4 If I happen to blow myself up, I don't get sued and therefore dont need a large liability policy. If you get blown up you might blame me . You can still start at ground zero and load common rounds very economically if you buy in quantity and watch for bargains. Plus it keeps you from associateing with undesireables down at the local bar. Covey16

I hear you!!!
I totaly understand the price increase due to material cost increases, but there is no way that they can justify the amount of the increases!!
I look at the Federal blue box line of ammo and you can still buy a box of 300 Win Mag for like $15, but the same thing in some other brand will cost more than double that! Dont get me wrong....I know that those other brands have higher quality control, and better bullets in some of the loads, but overall both of those loads are still using the same amount of raw materials to make them!
I think history will look back on this era and prove that the American public was getting completly screwed on everything from bread to ammo!

I agree, for the tiny fraction of material that goes into bullets it doesnt add up to 25-50% increases. I think they are F'ing us and they know it, but we keep buying it.

There has been a couple of threads related to ammo prices where I suggested profit motive might be the most significant factor related to price increase. Some folks seemed to be taken aback that I would suggest such a thing. I still don't know why that would come as a surprise to anyone. Nothing wrong with profit.
For many products, raw materials are a realtively small percentage of COGS, I am not sure about ammo though. If manufacturers costs were to blame, I would imagine that fuel and energy costs would be amore likely culprit.
If the increases are unreasonable, the market will correct itself...hopefully.

maybe its because every manufacturer is producing military ammo which it can charge whatever it wants for so any thought of producing other ammo would not be a wise decision.
Therefore trying to boycott purchasing wouldn't do much at all.
