I am out of town working and just got off the phone with my wife. She had to put Bella down today due to wobblers syndrome. Bella was a big part of our life and my wife’s companion at all times, especially when I am not at home. My wife is really going through a hard time right now but she knows Bella is doing well with all the beloved dogs we have lost in the past. Sorry for being so sentimental but this is hard on me also for not being able to be with my wife and not being able to say goodbye to Bella.

"Sorry for being so sentimental " For those that know the pain there is no need to appologize.

Sorry for y'alls loss. It is amazing how attached we can get to our pets/pack members.

Thanks for the kind words.
Mr Clean my thoughts will be with you and your 4 legged companion also. Bella was only 4 years old.

One last pic of Bella in her first snow.

Really sorry for your loss. I just lost Doc to cancer who was a family member of 8 years. He was a little black Pom which I didn't want in the first place and ended up being a fun part of the family. So I know how you feel.

My heart goes out to you and yours

Brother, I know your pain. We've had a few Bull Mastiffs over the years. We've also rescued and re-homed a few. Unfortunately the large breeds are prone to diseases. We had to put one of ours down at 3 due to colon cancer. The other lived 12 years before cancer got him. My brother has one our rescues and my wife's sister has another.

If you decide to get another check out the Bull Mastiff Rescue organization. Bunch of good dogs needing good homes. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for you and your wife's pain. Hope this will help a little.

"I will lend to you for a while, a Pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives and mourn for him when he’s dead.

Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three,
But will you, ‘till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief
You’ll always have his memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.

I’ve looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd life’s land, I have chosen you.

Now will you give him all your love nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again?

I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Pup will bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.

We’ll shelter him with tenderness; we’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay.
But should you call him back much sooner than we’ve planned, We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.

If, by our love, we’ve managed, your wishes to achieve,
In memory of him we loved to help us while we grieve,
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
We’ll have yet another Pup, and love him all his life."

sorry for your loss.

A pet is an extension of the family and is treated as such when they are lossed. Some people have animals (not pets) just to have. Pets are loved by the family they protect and accompany.

Sorry for your loss. No need to apologize when you lose a family member. I have loved my dogs a lot more than a lot of people I know.

Had to get up and close my office door after reading this, didn't want the girls up front to see my watery eyes.

My codolences for your loss. I may soon have to make this decision for my 13 year old lab.
