Had a couple of buddies down from LA hunting here in SW Menard County. They have really been in the birds and killed a real trophy bird. The bird has four beards and 1 1/2" spurs. The beards total 27.5". I am looking for someone who is an official scorer for the NWTF as it should make the record book.
A few years ago, Travis Hall, President of BROWNING and I were hunting in Terrell County. I called a bird to him that had 4 beards totalling over 33" and 1.5" spurs. We screwed up and did not score the bird but he is mounted in Travis' office in Ogden, UT.
Adios,
Gary

No scorer here, but sounds like an awesome bird!

Heck of a nice bird. Beard legnth, spur legnth and weight are the measurements taken for bird score. I do not know an official scorer. Tjack28 probally does. He is on the forum pretty often and in his sigline has their website and facebook info

http://www.nwtf.org/for_hunters/how_to_score.html

http://www.nwtf.org/all_about_turkeys/turkey_records.php

Checking their site any NWTF member or licensed hunter from that state other than the hunter can score the bird for registration into the book from what I see there.

Pics would be nice also

From your numbers if the birds weighed 20lbs it will be in the 60s for rank in the current book with a score of 105

The other one would be in the mid 30s for rank with a score of 116+

A trophy anyway you look at it!

you don't need an NWTF official scorer! all you do is take the measurements use the formula and then send the score along with PICTURES to the NWTF and they will let you know if it enters the record book. As a former employee of the NWTF I can tell you that your bird will NOT even come close to the record book. Still a nice bird but not anywhere close to cracking the top 50 in the Rio Grande non typical category.

Check NWTF website. It has scoring instructions. It is an easy process. All you need is an NWTF membership and another member to witness your score.
