 Just got back from Academy with this 45-70 bad boy! Was looking a a Mossberg 100 atr they had on clearance for $250 along with a Luepold VX1 3x9x40mm for $150 but ended up walking out with this Rossi. As soon as I handled it, I knew it had to come home with me. Never owned a Rossi but have heard good things about em' and I've always wanted a 45-70 lever gun. Fit and finish is pretty good, maybe a little below Marlin but I'm pleased. Hope to shoot it next weekend. If any of ya'll live in Austin, Academy on Brody Ln has a Luepold VX1 on clearance for $150.

Was not on clearance, it was just over $450 out the door.
Edit: actually looked at my receipt, just under $480 with tax.

You're gonna get addicted if that shoots anything like my Marlin. 45-70 with factory 405gr is a blast and it just gets better from there. Recoil with factory, even the Hornady stuff, isn't too bad.....

have fun Yeah, Academy had only two boxes of Remington left for $35 a box. Hitting up Cabela's next weekend for ammo.
