brother-law has a mod 639 smith auto. 9mm. we were shooting sat and he has a problem with it. every time the slide goes back and you shoot it,it reloads another shell, the hammer returns back to the down position also, and you either have to pull the trigger which is much farther forward or pull the hammer back. . also when you pull the slide back and lock the slide, the release lever on the side is very very hard to release. much harder than it should be. what is the problems here? Thanks. Nathan.
thats what im talking about!

Thanks Saginaw, i will contact him. he did go to a S & W forum. found out pretty much what the problem is. something to do with releasing the slide with the safety on. bent some tangs out of place etc. i think he is going to send it to smith. they said that they would repair it free and ck it out. those are pretty hard to get a hold of. seem to be a pretty-good gun. . i looked on Gun brokers under smith semi-auto pistols and there was not any for sale. anyhow i will tell him. thanks again. Mr brisket.

Tell him to keep in mind they were the first model of smiths with a decock on them. Well the 39-2's were thats what I collect.
