Looking at a 4 seater utv (rtv really). It's a 2011 with 800 miles, which seem kind of high for a 1 yr old. Is that high or about average for a 2011?
Thanks for any input.

Does not seem really that high. If the average speed was 20mph that would only be around 40 hrs of driving time. I ran Polaris Rangers an average of 3 hrs per day at about 25mph everyday. If it was on a ranch or farm as a work vehicle then it would a normal amount to me. Key would be did they do the oil, fluids and filter changes on schedules more than hours or miles on it.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Like Ranchman said. It all depends on how it was treated. That is no miles at all. I have put a little over 500 hours on mine in a year. It does not have a mileage meter so I don't know the mileage. If I averaged 5 miles per hour that would be 2500 miles.

as long as it was maintained you shouldn't have a problem. We have a kubota RTV with 1800 hours on it and it runs like a top. But we regularly clean the filters and change the oil and check fluids.

I have two Rangers, one is a 2010 six wheel drive and the other is a 2010 crew cab. After two years of using them exclusively on the ranch they both have about 150 - 200 hours on them and both average 10 mph and the miles are 1,500 on one and 2,000 on the other. We change all fluids and service them twice a year and they run great. So I would think 800 miles is really not much at all. I would diffinitely have it checked out before I used it much though unless the seller can provide service documentation.

I've had my 2012 Polaris for almost 4 months and just went over 200 miles. I was amazed at how fast that ended up happening. A friend of mine has a Honda that has something like 2500 miles on it. So 800 miles isn't very much. IMHO.

About 1000 miles/100 hours per year is considered average by the dealers. I have a 2008 X2 that I got in Nov. of 2007, just took it in for the 450 hr/4500 mile service.
The key is in keeping the maintenance up. Only problems I've had were a torn front axle boot, a battery and the voltage regulator.

These machines average $10,000. I sure hope that 2,500 miles isn't high mileage and the end of the road for them. That would mean they would cost about $4 per mile to own...not to mention the maintenance!
