Does anyone recommend a good light wieght canoe or kayak. Im looking to try something new next year and I figure it may give me an edge over the normal public land walk-in. I appreciate any advice.

I've been looking into getting one too, but don't know what to get either.

OLD TOWN canoes. This one is 15 ft long and can carry 2 people and all the gear plus a dog. Also it is light enough to throw up on your shoulders to move around.

A Canoe is probably best for most people to carry gear, decoys, and dog. But if you want a Kayak, look at the Old Town Predator K14. Not cheap, but it is fast and tracks well, comfortable to paddle, will hold all the gear and decoys you would need, at 31 inches wide I find it very stable, nice camo color, 68 pounds. I enjoy mine so much, that I hunted out of it exclusively this year. I did not put my duck boat in the water once this season.

I hunt from a mainstream patriot in factory camo. I have hunted with several people with several differetnt yaks and mine is by far the best to hunt out of. If you just need it to travel, there are some much cheaper choices. I can get me, gun, blind bag, dog, and 4 dozen decoys in my yak. I bought a canoe years back and it is much easier to use on open water with a hunting partner. If your buddy doesn't go, it makes it difficult.

Hunt, I bought a otter boat!!! I love it and am glad I bought it. I pull it with my 4 wheeler and hunt you can't go wrong with it. It weighs only 120 lbs. and has grab handles on either end and has a shotgun rack built in and carries all my gear.

I got a MASTERS DEGREE in SKILLET SHOOTIN..From the University of Arkansas
