Well, after looking for months for this pistol I finally got one !! I haven't had the chance to go to the range yet but plan on going this weekend to burn off a few boxes and see how she runs. This has been an elusive little creature to say the least They are difficult to find. I checked it all out last night and the fit and finish is really nice. I really like the Novak 3 Dots. The feel is perfect for my hand. I'll post a range review as soon as I get back from the range.

what is the going price now? for a while it was still MSRP almost. I want one, but with Rugers past history with the SR9 etc, I am gonna wait till the smoke clears and prices drop.

I just picked one up yesterday. From what I see and after shooting the gun today I would say the only way the price will drop is if the quality drops. This is one fine piece.

MSRP is one thing, sale price is another. it has to come down or Ruger will shoot itself in the foot on this deal. there are equally good new 1911s like Remingtons out there.

I have not shot but I have looked at and handled the remingtons and I do not feel they are in the same market as the rugers. I would say the ruger is more in line with the Springfield operator. Maybe better.

Yep. I think msrp is $799. But I think many people are cashing in on the supply/demand problem. Several on gunbroker right now with competitive bidding over $700 plus shipping and FFL fees. One guy has a buy it now set at $900. Some are cheaper though.

Buddy of mine got one NIB 18 months after they came out for $269 from a dealer. When their new theirs always hype; I am a ruger fan but im not going to pay that premium

Well, I took the SR1911 to the range and let me say this it's a very nice firearm to say the least. I would put it up there with the likes of the Kimber,Springfield Loaded and many other 1911's in the $1200 to $1600 range. As for the range report..... I started at 7yds 230Gr. Remington FMJ's everything works great. Very accurate and cycled extremely well with both the 8rnd and 7rnd Mags. Moved to 15yds same ammo. Took me maybe 2 rounds to get adjusted to the Novak sights better but still Very accurate everything worked great. Moved to 20yds. Still very accurate buy this time I am getting better with the sights and overall feel of the gun. Everything worked fine. 80 rounds down range and No FTF or FTE's at all this gun runs GREAT ! I could not be happier !!

Would you say the feed ramp looks polished or just very well machined? I can not tell for sure but it is slick.

I would describe it as polished. It is slick and no machine marks visible. Mine is almost a mirror finish
