When: April 21st, 2012 with a 10:00 a.m. Start Time. Sign in will began at 8:00 a.m.
Where: Brazos Valley Archery, 387 Pritchard Lane, Brock, Texas 76087

Who: Open to all archers.
Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place youth male and female and 1st 2nd & 3rd place adult male and female.
Entry Fee: $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for Youth 17 and under, active military and Wounded Warriors. Includes hot dog, chips and water.
(No credit cards will be accepted. Sorry for any inconvenience). Pay when you get here.
Dress: This is a 12 Target 3D course. Remember it is an “Out Door” event with simulated hunting conditions, dress accordingly. Some suggestions: sunscreen, insect repellent, hat or cap, boots and pants.
Please have your arrows marked for identification purposes. (FIELD TIPS ONLY)

How rugged is the course? I'm a Wounded Warrior and have had 5 surgeries on my knee...

It is fairly flat. I keep the lanes mowed. There are a couple of lanes that have water you will shoot over and the retrieval of the arrows is the only deal and I will have people there that can help with that. No hills or draws etc. I would be very happy to send you some photos of each lane so you can have a better idea. I also will have benches to sit if you need a breather. Ir you look on our website under photo's you can see most of the lanes. Thanks for asking, your service to us and the sacrifice you have made.

The trophys are in for the 04-21-2012 tournament!




Also there will be raffle tickets for a new Char Broil Magnum 500 4-Burner Gas Grill, with Side burner to help raise money for the new NASP National Archery in the School Program for Brock ISD.

If I have a turkey on the ground by then I'll try to make it out. What is the max yardage for the shoot?

54 yards is your longest shot. I hope you have one on the ground, take pictures and we will brag about it:)

Brazos Valley 3-D Archery Invitational Tournament

1. Targets will consist of a mixture of 12, 3-D targets of various sizes.

2. Each archer will need a minimum of 4 arrows to complete the course. If you loose an arrow you will not be permitted to leave your flight to get
others. The last 2 stations have 4 targets each! May have a couple extra just in case!

3. Only field tips will be allowed.

4. Shooting positions will be marked. The shooter must be within the shooting area while making a shot.

5. The range officer will give the direction to shoot when it is safe to proceed.

6. Once a shooter commences shooting a course, he or she must finish with his or her own group, or as assigned by a range official.

7. The furthest distance from the target is to be shot first unless directed differently by the range official.

8. One arrow only per target will be scored from each shooter. Points will be awarded as indicated.

KILL ZONE IS 10 POINTS

VITAL ZONE IS 8 POINTS

WOUND, A HIT ON THE TARGET OTHER THAN THE HORNS IS 5 POINTS

9. An arrow shaft touching a line receives the higher score. In the event of a dispute, the range officer will be the final decision.

10. To score points, the arrow must be stuck in the target except for a pass-through that is witnessed. A pass through will be scored based on the
agreement of the group and the judge.

11. Targets are to be scored by both scorers before arrows can be pulled. If an arrow is pulled before it is scored, it counts as 0 points.

12. If an arrow glances off, bounces out or is stuck in the horn it will be scored as a miss.

13. In the event of a miss, the archer may shoot up to 3 arrows total at the missed target, but must score the first hit and no other shots will be
made. 2 points per shot after the first shot will be deducted from the first scoreable hit.

14. Arrows that miss, unless readily visible from the target will be left until after the tournament is completed to avoid delays. Retrieval is to the
desecration of the range judge.

15. No nocked arrows anywhere on the range except at the shooting line.

16. Only assigned shooters and range judge on the elevated shooting platform at a time.

17. Only shooters with impairments preventing them to climb the stairs to the elevated blind will be allowed in the pop-up blind.

18. Every shooter must complete a range safety form prior to the tournament.

NO ARCHERS WILL BE PERMEATED TO SHOOT IF HE OR SHE IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS OR ALCOHOL AND WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

The practice range will open at 8am, no practice will be allowed on the tournament course the day of the tournament.

What's the longest shot for youth classes?

33 yards but there is one deer they can shoot at 54 for extra points if they want. There are 6 separate ranges with the number of targets listed and same for youth. Thanks for asking.

What are the different classes? Also any speed limits? Known or unknown distances?

Pretty much straight up hunting, I don't want it to complicated,just fun. Everyone is equal, the classes are youth and adult male and female. The only difference is on the second set of targets the youth will shoot at only one (the closest) target but can elect to shoot at the second. The targets will be at know distances with the longest shot being 54 yards. It will be up to the archer to decide which target he/she engages first.

Sounds like alot of fun. Really wish I could make it but have a work weekend at the lease this weekend.

gljshh, must be a lot of archery folks in your area. The schools in Flower Mound are very competitive in NASP, National Archery in the Schools Program. I have a school NASP only tournament the following weekend and have some archers from there already signed up.
