They are still to big to ethically shoot with a 22-250 no matter how you look at it.

Neck/head or neck shot. 22-250. 55gr Sierra Matchking BTHP or 55gr Wincheseter Ballistic tip. Sorry, only 2 options....

Looking forward to the report. Good luck and straight shooting. Remember, trophy is in the eye of the beholder. A management Oryx at your age would darn sure qualify as a trophy to me.

I hate that bullet, but that's just my opinion.
Neck or mid shoulder shot...their spine is way low!!! Mid shoulder hits spine

All I can say is before I went hunting for one I heard alot of stories of them taking multiple hits with 30 calibre guns - that they were VERY tough. Based on those comments, I'd feel undergunned (way so) with a 22-250 but then I personally wouldn't use one for whitetail either - just personal choice I guess.
Mine went down with one 130gr .270 slug to the heart and expired quickly.
We didn't weigh him but since I tore my biceps tendon a few years ago trying to move a red stag, and my guide also had a bad back - we used the bucket on a tractor to move my bull around. At the processor two of us just sort of dragged him out of the back of the truck right onto a wheeled table.

Neck or mid shoulder shot...their spine is way low!!! Mid shoulder hits spine Like where the neck and shoulder meet? Or the middle of the shoulder itself? Or high shoulder? I saw a gemsbok shot placement thingy and that's where the shoulder bone is.

I'm headed out Sunday for my Oryx hunt. Be using my Custom 284 Winchester with 139gr HSST @3000fps. Dreamed of an exotic hunt for a LONG time and I CAN'T WAIT. Good Luck Chital!
