Im buying a new upper for me AR-15. Im either going with a DPMS 20'' bull barrel upper or a CMMG 22'' upper. Can anyone tell me anything about the CMMG 22'' bull barrel upper? I cannot find any reviews on the internet. Im looking for a upper that is capable of shooting .5in groups at 100yds. I am "re" building my AR to reach out to at least 300yds.
Any help would be appreciated.

is any of it match?
The reason I'm asking this question is that, unless your buying and shooting match ammo, your never gonna get tiny groups. Most mil-surp ammo is 1.5-2.5 MOA ammo. You can stick it in a krieger barrel, its never gonna be 0.5MOA.
From reading reviews on the DPMS, most people like their guns. seems to be around 1MOA gun. (I tend to be very skeptical of these reviews in general. People tend to exagerate the accuracy or innaccurately . . . 3 shot groups are a group of statistical randomness not representative of the barrel. 5 shot, ten is better).
If your happy using lighter bullets, a 1/9 twist is fine (69 sierra match kings have a very good reputation and will work great at 300 yards). If you want to shoot the longer 70 or 80 grains, you need a 1/8 twist rate.

I had a DPMS 16in carbine model, I was getting great groups out of it with the American Eagle 55gr FMJ. I am planning on shooting Hornady Match grade ammo. 55gr because I am wanting a 1:9 twist. My overall concern is - Does CMMG make a good upper? I have always been a DPMS guy.

I've heard they make good stuff. I've never owned their products. If you liked your DPMS, you'll probably like them, too.

Refer to this: http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/u...R_s#Post3064272I'm not a fan of DPMS's ar-15 platforms, but they do use quality barrels and I'm happy with my AR-10 from them (though I had to change out the upper receiver because they use that cheap 6065 crap instead of the stronger 7075 t-6 aluminum). I would pick them over CMMG on accuracy. Reliability and durability are a crap shoot on both, but if only accuracy matters, the DPMS will do well.

I would buy a PSA upper before a CMMG. PSA uses FN CHF barrels on their better upper builds. Spikes has an upper using a Lothar Walther stainless barrel.

I can only speak about their 300 Blackout barrels and lower parts kits. Both of the 300s I got shoot easily under MOA at 100 with V-Max and TTSX.
Just received a 16" 5.56 DPMS heavy barrel but it's not mounted on upper receiver yet.

I have the CMMG 6.8 upper. And I've been very pleased with it. It is one of their WASP treated barrels. Out-of-the-box accuracy has actually been pretty good so far. Was able to shoot 1" groups at 100 yards with Remington UMC ammo(which from all that I've read is not a good round for the 6.8 everyone complains about it's inaccuracy). I'm currently working up loads that I will try out to find what this rifle likes. I've only had time to put about 60 rounds thru it so far. But in those rounds, I'm finding I like shooting it over my Spike's 5.56.
Glock: It's like a hammer, not very pretty but works when you need it.

I'll spend up to $650 on the upper. I want to hear a little bit more about CMMG because I am interested in buying one of their uppers I just have not seen as many product reviews on them as I have on other brands.

For $650 the RR predator pursuit is going to be a shooter. It is not a light gun. Managable ,but if you carry it anytime it may get old. You may look into one of ARP's 223's or see if you can build.
The RR PP is accurate

You need a match barrel to get .5 MOA most likely. A run of the mill CMMG bull barrel likely won't get there. There is a reason match stuff cost more.

Match grade mostly has to do with consistency. But yes, you're right--mil-spec is also becoming badly over-used

Then why would you want a cmmg? Because, he is not the OP. They are two different people with similar screen names.
