Shot him last season. Very, very pleased with the mount. Alpine Taxidermy.

not realistic with it flying and the hood up.... I would respectfully disagree with the above observation. Here is a pic of how most people commonly think the head of a Hooded Merganser would look like in flight (or swimming for that matter), and they would be correct:  However, Hooded's can and do routinely fly with their hood's displayed, especially when in close proximity to the surface of the water, as is the one depicted in the mount landing over reeds:

I'm was working on the same therory as you..... you had never seen a Mergie fly with it's hood up so it was wrong.... I have never seen a Canvasback, so their extinct
