Here are a few pesky grackals or brown headed cowbirds that I shot this last summer with my .625 big bore blowgun.

Haha funny you say that because its ironic that we are probably both in the same area code. Im in angelo. Blowguns are very good out to 20 yards. It just takes practice.

Back in high school we had a mouse that we baited and hunted with blowguns for a week straight before finally getting a dart in him.

I still have my 'Whammo' two piece unit that I bought back in 1958. Lost a lot of darts to jackrabbits before I learned to stick to cottontails. Hardest thing to kill were rattlers. Trying to shoot dart down was always a challenge. Used to cut golf tees in half and use wire from clothes hangers. Several friends would get together, just use the golf tees and have wars. Safety glasses?? We didn't need any stinking safety glasses. smile

Nice shootin' lane. When I was a kid I lived across from a elder lady that would go to Africa several times a year. She brought me back a blow gun and tought me how to make my own darts; mostly out of paper and thumb tacks. I'll have to dig that thing back out, you make it look fun.

PS. we need to put together an Angelo THFer meet and eat, looks like there are more and more of us on here.

As a kid I made a homemade blow gun out of pvc and used the heavy guage safety pins as darts. It worked really well, lots of dead birds. It also got me in alot of trouble with my mom.

Great purchase. I have even killed large raccoons with mine.

I would recommend for people to use cold steel Razor Tip darts, but they have just stopped making them so you better buy them quick! You can check out some of my posts on the blowgun forum and I posted pics of The darts I use for coons, 15 inch dowel rod with a big razor blade and a good cone.
