I'm looking for feedback on this bullet. Used in 243, 270, 308, 30 06, and 7mm Mag on whitetail, exotics, mule deer and up to elk sized game. I've heard they are extremely accurate but lack killing power? What do you guys think?

Accurate and have piled up varmints, deer, and hogs for me in .243, 7-08, .270, and .308. Never have I felt they lack killing power.

They are a relatively "soft" bullet. Meaning that they tend to expand relatively rapidly which results in less penetration and potentially more meat distruction. Whether they are right for your application would depend on the velocity and weight of the bullet and the size and toughness of the target. For example, I would prefer not to use a light weight SST in a 7 Mag on an elk at close range. But it might be just the right bullet for deer in open country.

I used them for a year in my 270. I took several deer with it including a nice 11 point in the hill country. I would agree that they are a soft bullet. In several of the kills I made with it there was no blood trail what so ever, and the deer still traveled up to 100 yards with a good lung shot. When those deer were opened up, the damage inside was terrific. It does not lack killing power, but I moved on to Partitions and Accubonds because I wanted a bullet that made a better exit wound and blood trail.

I use them in my '06 and have no complaints. The only other bullet I've used to kill anything with is a Gameking.

Not on your list, but they are absolutely devastating on big hogs in the 6.8 caliber, which is somewhat close to a .270

i switched my 25.06 from the core lokt to the 117gr sst superformance. wanted a little more oomph..
so far, i have knocked out a handful of deer, a red stag at 110yds that went 10 yds and piled up and an aoudad ram that went 10yds and piled up.
they are working like a champ for me. clean shots with good pass thru on both big animals.
Stuff my dad said in the deer blind
"I can dive deeper and come up drier" "did you do that?"

I've only shot two deer and two hogs with SST's, but they're all dead.

Sir,
The Superperformance SST works well but is second fiddle to the killing power and bullet performance of the Winchester XP3 from what I've seen.

I have used them in the 7mm-08, not really impressed with them, accurate enough but I like passthroughs and the deer I shot with then did not do that. The shots I made with them were close range ones. Like Noslers Ballistic Tip good long range bullet for game though

IMO, it's the best lead core bullet on the market. I've loaded a ton of them for me personally, and many for customers. It's the bullet I recommend for your basic Texas hunting. Elk will also work fine with a nudge to the heavier weight bullets in a certain caliber. They also shoot very well.

I just switched over to them from the Hornady 140g BTSP in my .270 Win. Shot two animals this past year them. I'm using the Hornady 140g. SST Superformance at 3090fps muzzle.
One hog at 100 yards, hit high and just behind the shoulder. Hog ran about 70 yards before piling up. There was no exit wound. The hog was coughing up a lot of blood but no blood trail from entrance/exit wounds.
Second animal was a large mature buck at 100 yards. Quartering away. Entry took out 3 ribs, heart, lungs then 4 ribs on exit side. Bullet split, causing two exit wounds. The buck ran about 50 yards. Little blood trail. There was a lot of hair and lung blown out at the point of impact, but little after that.
I wonder if the performance wouldn't be better at slower velocities, under 3000 fps. I always had really good performance from the BTSP.

I'm pushing the 130 SST in my 270 Win at 3198 fps. I almost always got an exit, and stuff normally dropped in their tracks. I've had customers drop 2 pigs with 1 shot from a 300 Win Mag with a 150 grain SST. It's a great bullet with a decent BC.

From what I'm reading and the pictures I'm seeing on the 68 forums. The 120gr SST is devastating on hogs. I've got some sitting on my bench waiting for me to work up loads on them. Just haven't had the time to do it yet.
Glock: It's like a hammer, not very pretty but works when you need it.
