 First Hog Hunt

So I decided to go on my first hog hunt and take my son and a few buds along. I love hunting but the most enjoyment I get from such hunts is my son's excitement. He is not scared to show his pride in his daddy. A few buds and I drove 7 hours to East Texas and got some good pork. This guy met us in our cabin.  My son handling my bud's AR-15. Don't worry, it was empty.  Bunch of goofballs.    My son with our first ever hog. He couldn't shutup!   Our second pig taken last weekend. This one I stalked to within 10 yards before taking her down! Both hogs ended up being around 70lbs and made for some good eating.  My bud got the leader of the pack. Very nice pig.  My son took this of me while looking down my scope at some hogs.  In all we got five hogs and had an excellent time. We've already booked another hunt for April and can't wait for it! Bitten by the Hog Bug!

Congrats, great times there, will not be long before your son will the the one looking through the scope and dad taking the pics

Will do. Be a couple of years tho. I'm breaking him in with his 1st BB gun right now and plan to get him a .22 next year.
I'm guessing you reside near Big Spring? Whereabouts do you hunt?

Nice area. Actually been on a few rigs not far from there.
We have a place south of Iraan on I-10. Nice little drive but some fun hunting.

Thanks guys. My son is only 5 right now but loves to be out in the thick of things. Not quite old enough yet to shoot anything bigger than a .22 but he has been practicing with his bow. You're right about that bond between father and son on a hunting trip. Nothing like seeing that smile on his face after our first kill. Going hunting with my dad when I was younger was always an awesome experience and I'm glad I can now do it with my son.
