With out a shot fired on the final day bt me or my son. I ended with a little stomach problem over night so this is the first time in the 6 years of duck hunting that we hve missed the final day of hunting.
I hope you all did good today even though Ihave heard fron a couple of you that said it was real bad agian today with the fog.
Post up how your final day went so we can have reports from alll over. I don't even care if you name the lakes in this thread I mean hell its over for nine months.

Yes sir, we went out and tried it..although we didn't have much faith the birds would show. I figured that Mya and I started the season together last Sep 01, so we might as well end together today.

We saw about a dozen birds on the "roost" pond when we headed home this morning. The fog and no wind really killed us.

We did have a blue heron land 20 feet from us, Mya was all eyes

Mya's first year was a great one in my book, we both learned alot, and look forward to learning more.

Season totals were 118 dove, and 29 ducks. I would call that a GREAT year

It was a pleaure meeting and hunting with alot of you this season, and look forward to our next outing

Ended my season on Friday. Had a good hunt on Monday, got a limit. Hunted on Thursday, shot a limit but lost 2 birds so ended up with 3, not a bad day overall. Went out Friday, birds were gone from our usual hole. Only one bird there. Moved to new spot, hunted all day. Scratched out one more, whiffed on a couple of good can drakes, and a couple other birds. Weren't flying as good as I hoped. Had a great time though, overall a decent season for me. Got out a bunch, met some people, hunted a couple of new places. Now just anxious to get out there next year. Hope all y'all had a good one, let's get at 'em again next season.

Woke up and saw the fog. Went back to sleep. Woke up again at 9 and decided to jump a pond or 2- hell it is the last day.

Shot 1 redhead drake that I realized was the bird that we downed but failed to recover yesterday. Shot 3 coots so Maverick could get some work in on the last day. He made three good retrieves to make me smile one last time.

These are my season totals. 75% taken at Ray Roberts (public) although things slowed to a crawl after the split.
The rest were harvested on a private ranch outside of Terrel
TX.

mallard - 9
redhead - 3
wigeon - 10
pintail - 2
bufflehead- 1
gadwall- 20
gw teal - 23
bw teal - 4
woodies - 4
shoveler - 3
scaup - 6
ringers - 4
hooded merganser -3

total birds harvested = 90

I probably hunted 35-40 times this yr. So I averaged around 2.5 birds a hunt- not bad but not J.J. either.

Lots of special moments with friends/family and Maverick. Going out to Lewisville one last time 2night! Hope to get a woody. It has been great visiting with ya'll and hope to meet some of you guys next season.

Had a good season and one more hunt to go tonight. Gonna shoot a roost that has mallards and woodroes stacked in it like fried chicken in a bucket. Going to end this season like it should be. Hard to believe it came and went that fast. The last day leaves me with nothing other to say than

well the season ended just as quite as it came in. Between picking the wrong tank to hunt saturday morning, my truck breaking down on the way to that wrong tank and the chilicheese burger from the night before not settling real well it was still a good day.

I really did not miss much by picking the other tank, just a bunch of spoonies and ringnecks

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

this is my oldest son and our strap from saturday. 3 guys 3 limits to include my first pintail drake in 6 years of duck hunting. we hunted this morning as well at the same place and I got my limit 2 gadwall drakes 2 GWT drakes and a GWT hen. My total duck count was 38 ducks in 9 hunts. the dog is my CBR Gus, he made his first real retrieve this morning on a teal. he has been picking up a few birds but at 6 months old he would rather play ith my buddies dog than watch for ducks. but a drake came in one a line and 1 shot later he splashes about 20 feet off the bank. turned gus loose and he made a nice pick up. all in all a good season. finally had a few greenheads to shoot at. also took 4 different first timers out. and everytime we had pintails come in!

I didn't get out near as much as I like to this year(compared to about 35 days last year). I got a good 8 days of hunting in NM, but that's about it. I think I got out twice in teal season, 1 bird, and maybe 5 times this duck season for a total of 15. The good thing is I don't think I got skunked this year except for the one day of teal. BTW all of my hunts are public.

Final day ended with me and the family seeing plenty fo Coots. Live decoys, baby. (Pics are still on the camera.) Headed out around 13:00 (mid-day). Plenty of wind, decent skies, all was good except.... these birds were somewhere inside Cedar Park city limits.

I think my wife called it a park

This was the best season ever for me. Shot many ducks and many that I have never shot before. My wife is gonna kill me when I have to pay to get all of my ducks back from the taxidermist. I am getting mounted: pintail drake, widgeon drake, mallard drake, GWT drake, canvasback drake and redhead drake. The last hunt of the year (this evening) wasn't to good. I shot another mallard, here it is.

The last day here in Southern Oklahoma was way to foggy for my likings. Actually both Saturday and Sunday sucked for me in the early hours. I had ton and tons of teal come in to the spread early on both days with an occassional big bird coming down from the fog.

As the fog started to burn of the big birds started to work a little better. My grand finale ended with 3 mallards, 2 gadwalls and lost another mallards drake in the grass(only 2nd lost bird of season). After searching for 30 minutes and still no recovery of the downed duck, I called it a season and packed up.

We had something similar happen yesterday morning right out in front of the blind and it had Cappy hypnotized ...

But not so much so that he forgot what his real job was ...

Fared better yesterday than most recent hunts but this still ranks as one of our slowest seasons in quite a few years.

Cappy ... At my side for thirteen years, in my heart forever.

Our final weekend was slow and we only saw a few flights. I found out that the one thing that sucks worse than fog is frozen fog. A tough end to a tough year for sure.

Final numbers - the names of the locations have been changed to protect the innocent:

Lake A
1 Shoveler
4 GWT
1 BWT
3 Wigeon
3 Mallard
8 Gadwall

Lake B
2 GWT
4 Mallard
2 Gadwall
2 Wigeon

Lake C
7 Mallard

Lake D
2 Woody
4 Mallard

Private Pond
1 Peppered Coyote
1 Frozen A$$

Nice birds quackwacker. I guess it is time to hang up the hunting gear and get ready to chase some white bass and crappie.
