Coming home last night around 8:45PM I see what I think is a persons dog standing in the road. As I get closer, I hit the high beams and he stands his ground. As I get even closer, I can see he is dragging something from the road way. As I get even closer (100 yards), I can make out that it is a very healthy coyote! Something got run over and he was helping himself to a free meal. I slowed down and stopped about 50 yards out and watched him for a minute. He stood there watching me for a few seconds. Finally he grabbed his road-kill and drug it across the ditch and back into the horse pasture. I can't believe that they are right here in the middle of the city!!! I would say I would have shot him, but I'm surrounded on all sides by houses, businesses, a school, a church-sheesh! I wonder if he is eating peoples pets when he can't find road kill??? Don't they usually run in packs?

I was down at Corpus and took the kids fishing under the causeway one night and as we were leaving there were 3 coyotes right there between all the bait shops and piers. I guess we took their land, they did not take ours.

Coyotes live where ever people are. In the middle of Dallas even.
Some of the best yote spots I have seen are just after daylight the yotes are coming from the neighborhoods back to the woods.
And my neighbors cant figure out where there outside cats are...

When I was growing up, we saw coyotes all the time in the Spring Branch area of Houston.

I have seen a few coyotes on several occasions in Dallas. They live at White Rock Lake and I usually see them in the early mornings. I have seen them carrying off a cat or two also. Kind of strange the first time I saw them. I have parked and watched them feet from thew road before.

Yes sir yotes are in the city of houston seen em in Memorial Park too! I used to live in some apts that backed up to Addicks Dam and I would call yotes right up to my apt window at night! I have even seen em down here in Sugarland but not in awhile do to all the new development going on. You would be amazed at what can live in your own backyard!!!

My wife took some pics with her camera phone of a coyote standing across the street in the front yard from our sitter's house! It had just picked up a dead squirrel from out of the road and was eating it. She said it had zero fear of her OR the guy that was walking two dogs nearby!!

I live just out of fort worth in mansfield and hunt down the road not to far in the county under the city lights, called up as many as 7 in one sitting. I also have them all over my backyard on 10 acres here in the city, break out the foxpro on them about once a week :O)

I live in League City, south of Houston. There is a great deal of land development going on. Last year my jack russell was eaten by 4 coyotes in our own back yard @ 3 am.

My nephew saw one getting into a trash can one morning in one of the new subdivisions in Pearland, right off of Pearland Parkway.

Seadog, it's funny you mention Spring Branch-cause that is where I live, and that is where I saw him/her!

You know where Hollister runs into Emnora? There is a horse pasture there, and also a high line power transfer run, right there. That is where I saw it.

we used to live in banbury cross, which is the neighborhood right behind kelly's. in the mid 90's we used to dove hunt on the other side of clear creek (long before pearland parkway was a thought) i would venture a guess that there was maybe a few thousand acres between there and the beltway. a buddy of mine was fishing in clear creek (i've caught bass, crappie and catfish, as well as gar, mullet and blue crabs)when he catches some movement, it was a coyote chasing a whitetail fawn. a quick shot with a .38 super and the coyote was down.

used to see them quite a bit on pearland parkway by the highschool, there are some monster swamp rabbits that live in the woods, i'm sure they kept them nice and fat.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Lived in Plano just a few years ago and would see them quite often along the creek and woods at Independence and Plano Pkwy. There has been some new construction in the area but I'm sure they still run up and down the creeks.

Used to live in the townhouses across from Spring Woods High School at Hammerly and Gessner. We saw ours on triway lane off of Hammerly. Used to see them all the time in the 70's.

I used to work at the Jester unit in Richmond and commuted back to Sugarland. There wasn't a week went by that I didn't see a coyote along Oyster Creek or the new subdivisions going up around the unit.

Instead of redneck or hillbilly. I prefer to be called an "Appalachian-American."
