Ok, went out to the lease today, figured I'd check the hog traps, and found a buzzard in one of them

This was a first for us, never had that happen before. I did learn that if you push a buzzard with a stick, they will roll over and play possum LOL

I can only imagine! I've never heard of that, but then again I've never heard of one being poked with a stick in hog trap!

I took a stick and basically herded it out...tried giving it a nudge, thats when it went "possum" on me, then once we composed ourselves, I rolled it closer to the door. I guess he figured it out, and once in the doorway took off flying..

Yup and it's nasty nasty stuff -- smells real bad too. My bro-in-law tells a funny story about hitting one on the road and it ended up in the jeep with them. Says he took a wire brush and some soap to his skin trying to get rid of the smell.

They can do a number on the windshield if you're unlucky enough to hit one trying to get off the ground.

if i were to show these pics to one of the guys on my lease. of the corn in the trap. he would go crazy. he is a hard headed, tight, Bohemian. and would say you are putting to much corn in the trap that is wasting corn. (when he baits out the traps he may put one handful of corn in the trap.

Yes they are protected, but it makes it pretty hard to swallow when those nasty critters kill a day old registered calf worth a bout $1,200.00.

I didn't know that, but then again, this is my first year messing with traps. I didn't bait that one, just got the buzzard outa it. I did put corn in the other though might have to go get some outa there.

I don't see a thing wrong with your setup, TB. Looks good.

Opinions are like....you know - everybody's got one.

The way I see it, the more corn hogs see the less they're apt to talk among themselves and just go right on in...
