I have a .17 and I absolutely love this tack driver. I can group 3 shots in a bottle top at 80yds most days(sometimes I get a little unsteady). I currently have a cheap arse Simmons 3-9X32 on it. I want to be able to shoot it accurately at further distances like 200+ yds. I am wanting to upgrade the scope a little. Just wonder what power scope everyone else has on their .17s?

I just purchased the Savage 17HMR in stainless steel and just put a Redhead Epic 4.5x14x40AO on it. I hope it shoots as good as it looks. I will sight it in this weekend.

I'd look at a Burris Fullfield II mil dot; very clear with 95% light transmission, excellent long range scope! You can get it in various power and objectives!

I was actually thinking about putting one of those Burris Fullfields on my .243 I like them a lot. Might just by 2 of them at the same time.

I have a nikon 3x9 on mine buckmaster silver pretty close match to barrel. Some Academys have it for 188 plus I think 30% off that. I think I walked out with it aroun 140. I thought about all the others but found good quality at a good price. I dont know doodoo about them but I bought a barska with a ligted reticle first, I never put it on but it is a good looking scope for 75 bucks. If you go to I think Midway they have some lighted target dot reticle for cheap. Just remember the energy on those things are nothing especially after 150, and im not a rock squirrel hunter. Check out the dudes infor at varmintal.com lots of info.

If you want a scope that is as clear as a Leupold for a fraction of the cost look at this one:
http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MAPV451440.html.

I have one on my 243 and will buy another for my 22-250
