I have heard that the Leupold Vendettas are illegal for archery deer hunting in Texas. Wondered if anyone else had heard the same...A Buddy of mine read it in the TPWD outdoor handbook but I can't seem to find it.

Don't believe they are. They don't project a beam of any sort.

Illegal to use on a game animal. It has a lazer that is visible that is used when setting up the rangefinder for the first time. You are not supposed to use it while hunting but that's what makes it illegal in Texas on game animals.
