hey guys!!
I'm looking for a new gun safe but don't really want to pay Cabelas or Bass pro's prices... anyone know where to find good safes moderately priced in the DFW area?

Look at Lowes. I didnt look at them real close but they looked pretty good and were priced right at a glance.

Academy is where I bought mine, depends on what you're looking for though. Tractor Supply had the same safe on sale AFTER I bought mine.

Got mine at Atwoods. It's a Cannon, around $550 or 600. I love it.

Buy a bigger one than you think you will ever need. Getting guns out when they are stacked full can be a big pain. Plus there will be some other personal items that you will want to protect. My wife has some jewelry in there that belonged to her grandmother.

Sturdy Safe, do an internet search.

I did my research on the fire ratings before I bought mine a couple of years ago, and this company appears to be head and shoulders above the rest in this regard.

Shipped to my front door for what I thought was a reasonable price.

I only wish I would have got one 72" tall instead of 60". There is one old shot gun I have that will not fit in the one I have.

Tim

Dont go cheap! You get what you pay for! Pay attention to locking bolts on each side of the door including the top and bottom. Dont buy one with exterior hinges either. I really like liberty safes. Make sure they mount it into your foundation as well.

Securityproducts1.com look at this group. They are in Elm Mott, Tx. which is just North of Waco on I35. They have no drill locks, no pry doors, various fire ratings and you are dealing with the manufacturer. They can do custom or order from the floor of stock safes. etxbucks is correct on the buy what you can and don't go for cheap. And for sure go with the largest safe you can house. They fill up wayyyy too quick. texas Good Luck! taz

Pretty on the outside, trashy and cheap on the inside. Had to repair the lock and inside of door looked like a do it yourself nightmare. Rusted materials , shoddy welding, different sized washers, mismatched, used to shim the lock mechanism. Guess they figure most people will never pull the door cover off.
