Just the obvious things, water, good boots ,gun and binocs. If your going to be on the river take a spinning rod with 6-8lb test, and beetle spin baits and catch some smallmouth,if you have any down time. That river is full of 2-3 lb smallies, with the occasional 4 pounder.

Extra spares for you truck. Unless they have done some work on the roads beware because it's rough. Good Luck on your hunt, you should be in Barbary Sheep county !!! Baker

Packed the fishing rod. Thanks Elkhunter for reminding me to get the spares for the truck! Hope we can find some animals on this hunt. Thanks for the Luck, I think we might need it.

Take a camera and take lots of pictures to post. That area is probably the most senic in the state.

Hunting aoudad on the devils river was my favorite hunt. We did spot and stalk through miles of very rough terrain.
Advice: very good boots. Comfortable as well as durable. The rocks in the canyons we were in would shred soft soled boots within an hour. Also the cactus are mean. I wore 16" snake boots for the cactus but the soft knobby tread was gone before the end of the first day.
Camera: I don't mean the one on your phone either. Bring the best camera you can put your hands on. Lots of caves and tribal painting where I was at.

I went once to see some indian paintings in a cave on a mans ranch that the river flowed through and that was some pretty country there. It started raining good and we got flooded in, just more time to enjoy the area. Should be a good memorable hunt
