I'm sure i'm in the minority when I say I actually like going to Gibson's in Mesquite. The son doesn't have a sparkling personality or really even gives a rat's arse if you are a customer or not but I like the fact that he doesn't put up with any crap and gets rid of the riff-raff right away. As long as you obey the house rules, there aren't any problems. Since I'm there to shoot and be safe and I'm not looking to be buddies with him, it works out great for me. very true.. i quit going there bc of that [censored] and tell people about him every chance i get. I love going to the garland range bc the poeple are nice and respectful. if that sob in mesquite had ever yelled at me like i saw him yell at some people he was likely to get hit in the mouth. i hope they go out of buisness bc you dont treat customers the way he does.

been there several times and they always ask what bullet I'm shooting but have never looked at what I have. Unless they put up a bulletproof wall and ceiling enclosure there will always be a chance at a stray bullet. Slight tilt can shoot a bullet well over the berm. They can't do the shooting for everybody there. There has to be some trust put into those that show up not to shoot over the berm, but there will always be rule breakers.
I like going there unless someone is shooting a magnum caliber or a muzzlebrake right next to me!!
I most generally encounter people not leaving the bolts open in a cease fire. The RO's always get on to people for this.

I've never had anyone check my ammo, coming in nor while I was on the bench shooting! People can be protective over this range all you want, the reality is that bullets are getting past the berms. It's not safe! Regardless who was there 1st doesn't matter. Yes people can not do anything about the noise but when it comes to bullets getting past a pathetic excuse for a berm then legal liability falls on the range. As the news reported the range is complaining that it will cost them .5 million to get the berms up to par, that's why this is blowing out of proportion. Owners don't want to put forth the $$$ to keep their business operational. It's simply greed, fix the berms or close down. Simple. I agreewith you on anyone checking my ammo, but as for the berm that is where I disagree there is another berm about 1/4 of a mile behind that and it is over 100 to 200 feet high or higher also known as the old Garland Landfill, I would not want to spend a half million if I did not have to. IMO it's people useing the gun range as cover and randomly fireing their gun on the street somewhere closer to the house's.

I have had my ammo checked only a couple times when I checked in and that was a while back. I know they pseudo-check during cease fires when they walk the line... but that's not the primary concern of the line check.

I have spent A LOT of time at that creek. My parents have lived in the neighborhood (less than a half a mile away from the range) for 26 years. I fished that creek a thousand times and never had a problem. Rowlett Creek was our place to drink beer and hang out in high school and we never had a problem.
