I don't see any of that purple colored cleaner stain? Are you sure 'ur a plumber?
When I first put mine (3 pipes) out at the feeder, a year ago, it took the hogs a while to use them. I think they may have been scared from the glue smell. I don't know, but just a guess.

I used screws to secure my fittings on. I figured if one part gets damaged then repairs will be cheaper and easier that way.

I'm using a 4"x4' pipe for my first pipe. How many holes are you guy's drilling and what size? For some reason my search feature is disabled. If yall can also tell me what i need to do to enable my search feature that would help also. Thanks

If you guys look at Mikey's pipes, he has end caps that are threaded & screw on. I have the same, and just hand tighten them to open & close to fill. No messing with screws. Threaded end caps are in any plumbing section of 'ur local building supply store.

x2 on the threaded caps. I used glue and primer and let it sit outside for a couple days and had deer within a week and hogs within a month.

material list...5 ft of 4" pvc 1, 4" end cap, 1 female cleanout fitting, 1 4" threaded plug. On a side note 5/8 holes were to small for deer corn. When i kicked the pipe around one about 4 or 5 pieces of corn fell out so i over sized the holes to 7/8. Works much better for my application. I put all four out with game cams and waiting on results, we will see what happens this weekend when i check the cam.

I think the 7/8 holes will end up being to big. You'll end up having to fill the pipe much more often. 5/8-9/16 holes will work just fine. I have started putting 1-2 holes in mine to reduce the frequency i have to re-fill. They still work as well as they did before.

My last couple of pipes only have one 5/8 hole and they still are empty within a week. I put my 2-3 hole pipes out until they start getting hit and then got to a one hole. All my pipes are 4" x 5', but I might get access to another property and might make new ones out of 6" PVC, 30 gal plastic drums or used 12" steel culvert.
A thousand reasoned opinions never equal to one case of diving in and finding out.

Just finished turning the last screws on my first PVC pig pipe.Had some schedule 30 here, so I just bought the hardware for it. Hope it holds up to the abuse. Going to put it out this weekend and see how fast they start coming to it because I'm going back out the following weekend. If I put it between my stand and a feeder where the pigs are already coming to, will the added commotion from the pipe get more interest from the pigs in the area as a whole, than if it is just the feeder or just the pipe? Simply, I know they are hitting the feeder, but I want them there every night. What are your' thoughts ? Also putting up a solar light there also.

Put a little diesel on the corn. It will keep the coons and deer away from it. If you don't, the coons will chew through it.

I have yet to be convinced that diesel keeps deer away from it. I treated some corn in a 5 gallon water jug for over a week and put in some our traps. Caught three deer in 1 1/2 days. Still looking for another solution.
I also thought about attaching a bell of some kind to the pig pipes, they should eventually get used to the ringing. When it's dark you don't have too worry about waving a light back and forth, just wait for the bell to ring. If anyone has tried this I'd be interested in hearing how it worked.

Seemed to work just fine after that. Ive been thinking about making some out of 6" but the pipe is alot more expensive. The barrel might be the way to go.

Bolt Guy, SO FAR the diesel has worked for me. I figured it was a sure thing. How about coons? SO FAR, diesel has worked on them. But whipping coons and squirrels is never a sure thing.

No experience with coons and diesel. Been trapping them to thin them out, caught over 40 so far. That was just trapping in Oct and January, just started running coon traps again and will continue in to the summer. That one weekend was not the only time we had deer in the pig traps, with diesel treated corn. We're done using the traps we have until we build some larger pen type traps. Which will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Maybe a 30 gallon barrel would be the answer. That way only pigs would be able to move it around.

How do you set the pipes out? Just lay them on the ground? Hang them at hog height? Is the idea that the pigs have to work to get the corn and the hunter hears the noise? Help out this rookie!
Thanks.
