I was lucky enough last week to see my 2nd albino deer in Texas. I was driving towards Rocksprings on highway 41 between Kerville and Rocksprings. The first one I saw was 2 summers ago in llano county by my old ranch off a county road. Share your albino stories if you have them!

dead positive...was at night and turned around and went back to it just to make sure. Albino doe running with 2 whitetail does. got a good look at her up close. The other one was a buck, was further away but had a whitetail rack. So I am fairly confident on the buck. 100% positive on the doe though

We had a black whitetail deer taken off our lease last year by one of our younger hunters. I believe the term for this is "melanosis". Here's a couple of pics, as the deer is on display at Gander Mountain in Corsicana, Texas.

Melanistic is the term.
I saw a white white tail one time up in Montague county.
It was not an albino, but a white deer.
It had normal colored eyes and nose, and was running with two normal colored white tail does.

Me and a buddy were somewhere in between Kingsland and Weatherford and saw one once. A fawn with its twin and mama.
Thought I saw one on the side of the road down in south Texas a couple of moths ago. It was dark, but I whipped around and got a good look. Big Fallow Buck...

40 years ago had some white whitetail does and 1 buck. Lease was in Llano on Packsadle Mountain. Saw them for about 3 years.
Tigger If it isn't white it is not a birddog.

You know, you should, it's a nice mount. The young man that shot it was 16 at the time, his name is Travis. If you look at the plaque on the mount, you'll get all the info.
If you look at the pic, the brow tine on the left is gone. Travis had shot this deer, and it was thought to be down, panting its last breath. Travis' dad, David, was actually standing over the deer when it got up and ran off. Travis shot it again as it struggled to run off, and blew off the brow tine, and put a hole in the left ear as well. If you look at the full body pic, you can see the flourescent light shining through the hole in the ear.....

BTWN Kingsland and Weatherford? That is a lot of territory. Just giving you a hard time.
We have a doe on our lease that has a pretty large white spot under her eye. We all saw her and had a few pics on the game cams. Pretty cool but not an albino
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

I have never seen a true Albino but I shot a doe a few years back that had a completely white face. Looked like a little hereford coming through the trees.
Also the guy who pumps the gas well behind my house says there is an albino buck but I have never seen it or caught it on camera.

I saw a piebald yearling a few years ago around Barnhart. It was with it's Mom and sibling. Both of them were normal. I'd say the piebald deer was about half white. I never saw it again and nobody else ever saw it.

I read an article in I believe Outdoor Life years ago about albino deer at the outskirts of New York city but I've never seen one personally.

Friend of mine, lives in Rockwall, originally from Boston, MA. Has a full body mount of a Piebald 8 point, sitting in his living room. Said he shot the buck that evening, then saw a piebald doe the next morning... Same family tree I suppose ?
Daniel Just Because... That's why.
