I just bought a Vortex PST 6-24X50, that I've been wanting for a while. Now I just need to get a good picatinny rail and rings and have it mounted on my Sendero II 300RUM.

(Once I work up some loads for it, I plan on getting those custom turrets.)

But first - I need to find a good smith. I've searched around and it seems every gunsmith has their fair share of haters and loyal followers. Any advice on where I should take my rifle and scope today? (I work close to Doc's in Carrollton, but live in Rockwall.)

Really not sure which ones to get. I've looked at the NightForce, Badger, Burris, Leupold, etc. (Had no idea they could be this expensive.) I know I need a 20MOA cant, but really need someone with more experience than I have to tell me what I should go with and then help me set it up. Leveled, torque correctly, and so on. I can sight it in.

Not looking to enter F Class, but do want to be able to shoot out to 1000 yards. (Not sure if that's too ambitious or not with this set up.)

I doubt they would have the correct bases and rings in stock that you would need. I would not recommend you typical hunting rings on a 300 RUM. I have seen them near sheared off. Your canted base with a good set of rings is right on track. Burris also makes some good one's.

Try Gun Zone in Mesquite. They have helped me out a time or two.

They are only a few miles down the road from B&S on I-30.
